Bahcesehir adds Jaleen Smith to backcourt
Bahcesehir College Istanbul announced on Saturday that it has signed Jaleen Smith for the 2024-25 season. Smith (1.90 meters, 29 years old) will play in the BKT EuroCup after spending the last three seasons in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. Last season he divided his time between Virtus Segafredo Bologna and Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade. He averaged 5.3 points on 48.3% three-point shooting in 13 EuroLeague games for Virtus and then 6.7 points on 38.9% three-point shooting with Partizan.
Smith debuted in the EuroLeague with ALBA Berlin in 2021 and spent two seasons with the club. He helped the team to win the German League and Cup double in 2022. After playing college basketball at the University of New Hampshire, Smith started his career with USC Heidelberg and also played for Riesen Ludwigsburg in Germany before joining ALBA. He was chosen as the 2020-21 German League MVP after averaging 15.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.7 steals and a PIR of 19.1 for Ludwigsburg. Smith has also been a member of the Croatian national team.
