Bahcesehir keeps star forward Axel Bouteille
Bahcesehir College Istanbul has re-signed small forward Axel Bouteille until the end of the 2024-25 season, the club announced Thursday.
Bouteille (2.01 meters, 29 years old) averaged 16.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in 30 Turkish League games last season, in which he helped his team reach the FIBA Europe Cup finals.
The Frenchman returns to the BKT EuroCup after a stellar 2022-23 campaign in which he led Turk Telekom Ankara all the way to the final, losing against Dreamland Gran Canaria. Bouteille averaged 17.8 points on 44.5% three-pointers and 4.7 rebounds in 22 games, and he was chosen to the 2022-23 All-EuroCup First Team. He was that season's EuroCup top scorer with 391 points.
Bouteille started his professional career with Chalon-sur-Saone of his native France and also played for Limoges CSP, as well as Bilbao Basket and Unicaja Malaga of Spain before joining Turk Telekom in 2022. He helped Chalon win the French League in 2017 and his been a member of the French national team.
In 73 EuroCup career games with Chalon, Limoges, Unicaja and Turk Telekom, Bouteille averages 13.2 points and 3.6 rebounds, ranking 17th all-time in three-point shooting percentage (44.9% 3FG).
