Last season's runner-up grabs first victory since November 6
Bourg rallies from 14 points down to beat Hamburg, 93-82

Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse avoided a major slip-up by rallying from 14 points down to beat Veolia Towers Hamburg 93-82 in Group B. Bourg used a 22-4 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to improve to 6-4 after having lost four of its last five games with its first win since November 6.
Hugo Benitez scored 17 points, 11 of which came in the final 15 minutes, Joel Ayayi had 15 points and Jordan Usher and Jean-Marc Pansa both picked up 11 points. Hamburg set a new club record for most points in a first half with 58 points, one point off the club’s record in a half. But then managed just 24 points in the final 20 minutes and fell to 2-8, including a 0-6 mark on the road. Johnathan Stove led the way with 22 points and Jaizec Lottie had 19 points.

Hamburg’s new addition Stove had an immediate impact with two baskets for a 4-11 lead. Stove added a three-point play and Kenneth Ogbe drained a triple as the guests were up 8-17. Hamburg turned an unsportsmanlike foul on Maxime Courby into five points with a triple from Lottie to lead 8-22. Jordan Barnett and Lottie added three-pointers to give Hamburg the lead 20-31 after 10 minutes.
Bourg started the second quarter with the first five points to make it a six-point game. With his team ahead 27-35 with 7:40 minutes left in the first half, Hamburg coach Benka Barloschky was ejected as he received two technical fouls. Hamburg kept Bourg at bay and even pulled ahead 32-45. Pansa scored five points and Brandon Paul and Xavier Castaneda hit triples to bring Bourg within 45-50. Stove and Barnett both added three-pointers, and Hamburg was up 47-58 at halftime.
After giving up 58 points in the first half, Bourg stepped up its defense in the second half, not allowing a score for the first 3 minutes in cutting the gap to 53-58. A Kuath three-point play had Hamburg up 58-66. But Bourg continued its charge on defense, holding Hamburg scoreless for almost 5 minutes and putting together a 13-0 run with three baskets from Benitez to lead 71-66. And the score was 73-67 after three quarters.
A Castaneda triple and Benitez jumper gave the hosts their first double-digit lead at 80-70. Hamburg managed to get back within 80-74, but Benitez drained a three-pointer and Usher had a layup and Bourg was up 85-74. An Usher triple made it 88-76 and did not let Hamburg get closer than nine points the rest of the way.
