Buducnost VOLI Podgorica added much-needed athleticism to its roster by bringing back forward Aleksa Ilic for the upcoming season, the club announced Thursday. Ilic (2.04 meters, 25 years old) has spent last season with city rival SC Derby where he got back to playing basketball after being sidelined for almost two years due to an injury. Ilic averaged 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in nine Adriatic League appearances.
Ilic has previously been with Buducnost between 2015 and 2021, after joining the club from his hometown Sutjeska Niksic, where he started his professional career as a teenager. Over that time he helped Buducnost win the 2018 Adriatic League crown as well as three Montenegrin League and four Cup titles. Ilic has also played in 31 games in the 7DAYS EuroCup over four seasons, with career averages of 3.1 points and 3.1 rebounds. He has also been a regular member of the Montenegrin national team.
