Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana has announced that center Alen Omic will stay at the club for another season. Omic (2.16 meters, 30 years old) averaged 8.8 points on 72.0% two-point shooting in 15 7DAYS EuroCup games last season, ranking fourth in rebounds (7.3 rpg.). Omic leads the competition's all-time standings in two-point shots made (470), whilst he ranks second in PIR (1,650) and rebounds (737), and 11th in scoring (1,159 points). He helped Cedevita win the Slovenian double - league and cup titles - last season, earning MVP honors in the Slovenian League finals.
Cedevita re-signs center Omic
Omic made both his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and EuroCup debuts as a member of the club in 2012 and 2013 respectively. He is one of the most accomplished players in EuroCup history. Aside from winning the title with Unicaja Malaga in 2017, Omic was named to the All-EuroCup First Team in 2016 after impressing for Gran Canaria. He has played for Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse, Gran Canaria, Unicaja, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem and Joventut Badalona in the EuroCup and for Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Crvena Zvezda mts Belgarde, Buducnost VOLI Podgorica and AX Armani Exchange Milan in the EuroLeague. Omic began his professional career with Zlatorog Lasko in his native Slovenia. He has also represented Slovenia at both the Basketball World Cup and the EuroBasket.
"When I returned to Ljubljana, I already said that this is my second home and I am happy to stay at Cedevita Olimpija. In the season that is behind us, we have taken a big step forward. The fans have returned and I want the stands to be full at every home game, and we will make sure that they go home satisfied," Omic said after the agreement.
