Frutti Extra Bursaspor overcame departures and injuries to stay competitive. Andrew Andrews and Onuralp Bitim had to do a lot with it.
Andrews, Bitim dominated against Reyer
Bursaspor faced trouble when two of its main players, top scorer Allerik Freeman and center Egemen Guven, left the the team to join Turkish Airlines EuroLeague squads. Bursaspor went on to sign Tolga Gecim, who got severely injured in this third EuroCup game with his new squad.
Two of its remaining players, Bitim and Andrews, stepped up big and are now playing a leading role, helping Bursaspor to win 3 of its last 6 games and increase its chances to reach the knock-out records.
Both of them proved it against Reyer - Andrews finished the game with 27 points and 5 rebounds, Bitim had 25 points and 7 rebounds, with each of them accumulating a PIR of 29.
Andrews has been nothing but unstoppable in the last five games, missing his team's Round 12 showdown against Cedevita Olimpija. He averages 25.2 points and a PIR of 27.2 in those five games. Before that, Andrews had much worse numbers, posting 4.1 points and a PIR of 3.6.
Bitim also improved his numbers with his team's shorter rotation, averaging 16.2 points and a PIR of 17.2 in the last six games. Before that, he averaged 8.2 points and a PIR of 6.8. Bitim and Andrews turned a tough situation into an opportunity, and are definitely making the most out of their extended roles.
