The center became the first player in competition history to reach a career PIR of 2,000
EuroCup recordman Alen Omic sets new milestone in win

Buducnost VOLI Podgorica started 2025 in the best way possible, by downing Trefl Sopot 69-81 on the road to improve to 6-7 in the standings. Along the way, Alen Omic added another milestone to his already legendary career.
The 32-year-old Slovenian center became the first player to amass a career PIR of 2,000. He achieved the milestone with his first board of the game, which is significant, as Omic is also the best rebounder in competition history. Omic leads the all-time rebounding list with 933. He is also first in defensive (603) and offensive boards (330). Omic now has a career PIR of 2,012.
Omic is also first in two-point shots scored at 560. No other player has scored 500 two-pointers: Andrija Stipanovic of Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana is second at 489. He is the fifth on the all-time scoring charts in the competition with 1,381 and needs 15 to tie Jamar Smith for fourth place. Bojan Dubljevic is the EuroCup's all-time leading scorer at 1,613 points.
Omic, a EuroCup champion with Unicaja Malaga in 2017, has also seen EuroCup action with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana (in two stints, before and after the merge), Dreamland Gran Canaria (where he was chosen to the 2015-16 All-EuroCup First Team), Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, Joventut Badalona and Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse. He just played his 142nd EuroCup career game, just two games away from all-time leader Rafa Martinez (144). Toto Forray of Dolomiti Energia Trento is set to play his 143rd game tomorrow, so it is unlikely that Omic will be first in the list in the near future.
A hustle player, Omic made the most out of his limited playing time against Trefl, fighting for rebounds and diving for loose balls. When the dust settled, Omic had finished the game with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and a PIR of 13 in less than 16 minutes on the floor. In his 10th season in the competition, Omic is still going strong!
