Ogbe returns to the EuroCup for the first time since the 2019 finals
Hamburg tabs veteran swingman Kenneth Ogbe
Veolia Towers Hamburg announced that it has signed veteran swingman Kenneth Ogbe for the coming season. Ogbe (1.98 meters, 29 years old) arrives from EWE Baskets Oldenburg, where he spent the past two seasons. He averaged 6.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 20 German League games last season. He also brings with him previous EuroLeague and EuroCup experience from his time at ALBA Berlin. He helped ALBA reach the EuroCup Finals in 2019.
Ogbe started his career in the FC Bayern Munich youth system and also played for SC Urspringschule Schelklingen and Erdgas Ehingen Urspringschule before heading to the United States to play college basketball at the University of Utah and Utah Valley University. A first team All-Western Athletic Conference pick in 2018, Ogbe returned to Germany after that and spent two seasons each with ALBA and Brose Bamberg before joining Oldenburg. He won the German League and Cup double with ALBA in 2020.
"Kenneth is an extremely talented player who has struggled with injuries over the past few years. He is now at a point in his career where he has understood that he has to invest a lot in his body. And I am convinced that we in Hamburg offer exactly the right conditions to do this. We are incredibly well positioned both in the athletics and medical departments," Coach Benka Barloschky said. "I am really looking forward to working with Kenneth and helping him to reach his full potential. I am sure that he will bring a lot of joy and enthusiasm."
