Dolomiti Energia Trento announced over the weekend that it has signed promising young playmaker [Patrick Hassan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/ngt/players/patrick-hassan/012242/) to a multi-year deal. Hassan (1.85 meters, 17 years old) averaged 5.1 points and 3.4 assists per game for Italy at the U17 Basketball World Cup last month in Türkiye. That performance helped Italy capture the silver medal.

A native of Rome, Hassan played in the junior categories of Basket Roma before moving to Bassano del Grappa where he spent the last two seasons. He helped Bassano reach the final at the 2023 Adidas Next Generation Tournament qualifying event in Patras. Hassan won the Italian U17 championship with Bassano last season. With Trento, he will play for the U19 squad and be available for Coach Paolo Galbiati’s senior team.

“Watching Patrick play, you get impressed by his energy,” Marco Crespi, the director of the Trento basketball academy said. “His athletic engine and competitive nature to overtake the opponent infects his teammates. I am very happy that he has chosen our project to continue his growth. It will be a pleasure to watch his improvements day by day.”

After an up-and-down first season, the Wolves are back with a vengeance

Dolomiti Energia Trento announced that it has signed forward Anthony Lamb for the 2024-25 season.

Dolomiti Energia Trento announced on Friday that it has signed forward Anthony Lamb for the 2024-25 season. Lamb (1.98 meters, 26 years old) will make his first appearance in European basketball with Trento. Last season he played for the New Zealand Breakers in the Australian NBL, where he averaged 19.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game, though he missed the end of the season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in February. Lamb was sixth in the league in scoring.

Lamb was a college basketball star at the University of Vermont, where he was twice named the American East Conference Player of the Year. He split his first three professional seasons between the NBA and the G-League. After playing for the Houston Rockets in 2020-21 and the San Antonio Spurs the next season, Lamb averaged 6.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 62 games for the Golden State Warriors in 2022-23. He won the 2022 G-League with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

“I am delighted with Anthony Lamb signing with us. As soon as there was an opportunity to try to catch him, we stopped everything we were doing, because he is a special player,” Coach Paolo Galbiati said on the team’s website. “If he hadn't had the injury that stopped him last season, it would have been unthinkable to have him with us. We had a really interesting chat, he knew a lot about us and I was fascinated by the knowledge he has of the game. He has worked and is working hard to be ready to make his contribution to the team and to pursue his and our dreams from the beginning of the season.”

Dreamland Gran Canaria announced on Thursday that [Jakub Urbaniak](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/jakub-urbaniak/profile/012777/) will be a member of the club’s first team for the 2024-25 season. Urbaniak (2.06 meters, 21 years old) first joined the club last season, but played for Gran Canaria’s third-division team for which he averaged 15.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

Born in Poland, Urbaniak grew up in Malaga, Spain, from age 3 and played in the Unicaja Malaga youth system. When he was 18, Urbaniak moved to the Czech Republic and spent a season at the Get Better Academy. He went back to Poland to play for Trefl Sopot before joining Gran Canaria last summer. Urbaniak has been a member of the Polish national team at both the U18 and U20 levels.

Games to watch: Dolomiti Energia Trento

[Dolomiti Energia Trento](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/dolomiti-energia-trento/games/trn/?season=2024-25) has not had a winning EuroCup season since the 2020-21 campaign and has not reached the playoffs since its debut season in 2015-16.

But despite its struggles in recent years, Trento has had its share of big victories and has improved each of the last three seasons. The goal is the same this season, as Trento eyes battling for a playoff spot.

Here's a look at some of the interesting matchups that await Trento in the 2024-25 EuroCup season.

 

### Round 2: Optimism for the home opener

The first home game of the season is always a special one, and for Trento, it will be a good indicator of what the fans can expect from the season. It will also be a chance for Trento fans to see new point guard [Jordan Ford](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/trento-puts-offense-in-jordan-fords-hands/), who is expected to run Trento's offense, which had its struggles last season.

Against [Trefl Sopot](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/trefl-sopot/roster/tso/?season=2024-25), which has returned to the competition for the first time since 2013, Trento will be poised to give its faithful something to celebrate. Trento has not won a home opener since 2020 and a good home start could go a long way in setting up a successful season.

 

### Round 10: Can Trento hurt Gran Canaria again?

Considering how much Trento has struggled in recent seasons, and how much success [Dreamland Gran Canaria](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/gran-canaria/roster/can/) has had, including winning the EuroCup in 2023, it is somewhat surprising that the two teams split victories in each of the last two seasons. Trento's victories over Gran Canaria include a dramatic [75-72](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/game-center/2022-23/dolomiti-energia-trento-gran-canaria/U2022/60/) home win in November 2022 and a [76-98](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/game-center/2023-24/dreamland-gran-canaria-dolomiti-energia-trento/U2023/120/) thrashing on the road last March, which was the last time they met.

Gran Canaria seek to restore winning-ways and possibly book their ticket to the playoffs too after seeing their perfect start ended with defeat at Ulm, whilst Trento has slipped down the standings after losing four of its last five European encounters and hope for an improvement in attack from Andrejs Grazulis.

For example, in that last of their nine head-to-head clashes, both [Quinn Ellis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/quinn-ellis/012593/) and [Toto Forray](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/toto-forray/006382/) contributed 10 points, and both will be wearing a Trento jersey this season, too. So, when the perennial EuroCup contender visits Trento in Round 10, do not expect the hosts to be impressed. It will certainly be a game to watch.

 

### Round 17: Closing the regular season strong

The penultimate round of the regular season will bring [Wolves Twinsbet Vilnius](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/wolves-vilnius/roster/wol/?season=2024-25) to Trento for the first time. It will be Trento's last regular-season home game against an ambitious opponent and this could very well be a collision of two rivals chasing playoff spots.

Additionally, what will make this interesting is Alessandro Magro on the Wolves bench. The Italian Coach has had his share of battles against Trento, and will certainly have a few tricks up his sleeve against a team he knows well in this crucial matchup.

Wolves Twinsbet Vilnius agreed to terms with center [Garrison Brooks](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/garrison-brooks/012789/) to remain with the club from the Lithuanian capital for another season.

Brooks (2.08 meters, 25 years old) averaged 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in nine BKT EuroCup games with Wolves last season. He made 29 of 41 two-point shots (70.7% 2FG) in his EuroCup debut season.

Brooks started the 2023-24 campaign with Wonju DB in the Republic of Korea, where he only played one game before joining Wolves. Brooks played college basketball at the University of North Carolina and at Mississippi State University, and started his professional career with the Westchester Knicks in the G League, where he averaged 13.6 points and 11.6 rebounds in 37 games in the 2022-23 season. He has also been a member of the USA U18 national team.

Strazel's late heroics keep France undefeated 

In a Group B back-and-forth battle on Tuesday, France and Japan exchanged leads for the best part of the opening 39 minutes. Japan rallied for a 77-80 edge with over a minute left and led 84-80 with 16.4 seconds remaining.

The game seemed to be over, but [Matthew Strazel](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/matthew-strazel/008099/) had other ideas.

When Rudy Gobert found Strazel beyond the three-point line, instead of taking the shot, Strazel looked at the game clock, dribbled left and shot over Kawamura's defense, drawing a foul and hitting a three-pointer that turned Pierre Mauroy Stadium upside down. Strazel sank the and-one free throw which allowed France to force overtime against all odds.

Strazel was not done, however. France led all the way in overtime but Japan managed to get within 90-92 in the final minute. France needed a reliable free throw shooter and Strazel stepped up again. He drew a foul with 6 seconds left and calmly made free throws to seal the outcome.

He finished the game with 17 points on 4 of 7 three-point shooting and 3 assists for a PIR of 16. Strazel saved France and proved that on a team full of stars, he can shine as bright as anyone else, providing one of the biggest highlights of the Olympic tournament.

And then he gave his AS Monaco teammate Mike James credit for it minutes after the game on social media.
