Manresa brings back big man Oriola 

[BAXI Manresa](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/baxi-manresa/man/) bolstered its frontcourt by inking center [Pierre Oriola](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/pierre-oriola/005917/) for the remainder of the season, the club announced on Friday. Oriola (2.08 meters, 33 years old) arrives from Fuerza Regia Monterrey, where he averaged 5.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 27 Mexican League games this season in helping the team win the title. Oriola started his professional career with Manresa during the 2009-10 season and played there until 2013. He went on to play for Huesca, made his BKT EuroCup debut with Baloncesto Sevilla and helped Valencia Basket win the Spanish League in 2017.

Oriola spent the prime of his career with FC Barcelona, where he played for five seasons and became the team captain. He helped the club win two Spanish League championships and four Spanish Cups, as well as reaching the 2021 EuroLeague Championship Game. Oriola has also played for Lleida and Basquet Girona in Spain and for AEK Athens in Greece. His last stint with Manresa came during the 2023-24 season, in which he averaged 3.7 points and 3.9 rebounds in 30 games.

The big man has also been a member of the Spanish national team, which he helped to win a gold medal in the 2019 Basketball World Cup, as well as a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2017. In 142 EuroLeague career games with Barca, Oriola averaged 5.4 points and 3.2 rebounds. In his previous 64 EuroCup games with Sevilla and Manresa, Oriola averaged 8.5 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Slask Wroclaw has brought back a familiar face to strengthen its frontcourt by signing Angel Nunez through the end of the 2025-26 season. Nunez (2.03 meters, 34 years old) spent the previous two seasons with the club. He finished the 2024-25 campaign in Spain with Leyma Coruna, where he averaged 2.3 points and 1.4 rebounds in seven Spanish League games.

The Dominican Republic forward is known for his athleticism and dynamic style of play. After playing college basketball at Louisville, Gonzaga and South Florida, Nunez began his professional career in France with Evreux in France in 2016. He has since played in the Dominican Republic (Metros de Santiago), Puerto Rico (Mets Guaynabo, Vaqueros de Bayamon, Capitanes de Arecibo), Mexico (Abejas de Leon), Israel (Maccabi Haifa), Greece (AO Ionikos Nikaias), Cyprus (Keravnos), the G League (Long Island Nets), Poland and Spain.

Nunez has been a regular on the Dominican national team, which he has represented at Olympic and World Cup qualifiers as well as the FIBA AmeriCup championships.

Winston made 7-of-8 two-pointers, 5-of-8 three-pointers and 6-of-8 free throws. He added 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block and drew 7 fouls. 

It marked the third week in a row in which a Jerusalem player was honored; Harper was the MVP of Round 5 and shared MVP honors in Round 6 with Bryce Jones of Aris Thessaloniki Betsson and James Karnik of Neptunas. 

[Axel Bouteille](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/axel-bouteille/003840/) of Buducnost VOLI Podgorica and his teammate [Juwan Morgan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/juwan-morgan/013256/) each had a PIR of 34 in their team's 71-84 road victory over NINERS Chemnitz. Bouteille scored 26 points by making 6-of-6 two-pointers, 4-of-8 three-pointers and 2-of-2 free throws. He added 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block. Morgan made 4-of-4 two-pointers, 1-of-2 three-pointers and 7-of-8 free throws for 18 points. He also recorded 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals and drew 9 fouls. 

[Adam Mokoka](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/adam-mokoka/012698/) of Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse, with a PIR of 32, Harper and [Conor Morgan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/conor-morgan/009680/) of Besiktas GAIN Istanbul, each with a PIR of 27, completed the top individual performers in Round 7.

### Individual highs: Balsa Koprivica, Bahcesehir, 4 blocks

Cassius Winston of Jerusalem was Round 7's top scorer with 35 points. Fatts Russell of U-BT Cluj-Napoca is the competition's leading scorer with 23.9 points per game.

Dusan Miletic of Cluj led all rebounders by pulling down 12 in his team's 110-86 home win over BAXI Manresa. Zacharie Perrin of Veolia Towers Hamburg leads the overall standings with 9.0 rebounds per night.

Hugo Benitez of Manresa dished 11 assists against Cluj, which were more than any other player in Round 7. Arnas Velicka of Neptunas, who did play in Round 7, remained atop the standings with 9.2 assists per game.

Stefan Djordjevic of Slask Wroclaw and Dogus Ozdemiroglu of Turk Telekom Ankara each collected 5 steals in this round. Ozdemiroglu is also first overall in steals with 2.9 per night.

Balsa Koprivica of Bahcesehir College Istanbul blocked 4 shots in Round 7. Deane Williams of the London Lions ranks first in blocks for the season with 1.33 per game.

Only three players registered a double-double in this round: Miletic (10 points, 12 rebounds), Benitez (13 points, 11 assists) and LJ Thorpe of Hamburg (13 points, 10 assists).

The London Lions bounced back in style on Wednesday night, delivering a commanding 97-72 victory over Panionios Cosmorama Travel Athens to improve to 3-4 in the BKT EuroCup. After a heartbreaking 1-point loss to ratiopharm ulm last week, the Lions left no doubt this time, controlling the game from start to finish.

Joel Scott led the charge with 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Amin Adamu and Kameron McGusty added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Though London’s offense looked unstoppable, head coach Tautvydas Sabonis credited the win to his team’s defensive effort.

"Defense, defense, defense," Sabonis said. "72 points, but it could have been a little bit lower, we relaxed a little. We definitely came to play. If we want to go far, we have to play hard and it’s 40 minutes, look after every possession."

Scott echoed his coach’s emphasis on identity and effort.

"It’s our identity," Scott affirmed. "It’s something we work on and talk about every day, which really showed today. Everyone was really locked into the game plan and we got the outcome we wanted. We want to build on it and keep working hard."

For Panionios, the night was one to forget. The Greek side fell to 1-6 and remains at the bottom of its group after what head coach Ilias Zouros called a “very bad performance.”

"It’s a shame," Zouros said at halftime, with his team trailing by 20. "It’s a BIG shame for the team of Panionios, the way that we play is ridiculous. It’s a SHAME! Defensively, one-on-one, we don’t exist."

His assessment didn’t change after the final buzzer.

"Physically, mentally, we were not in the game. I mean, we were REALLY out of the game. I find it hard to say anything. It was a very bad performance. Unfortunately, we are going in the wrong direction. We’d like to apologize to our teams, just one more time."

Despite the setback, Zouros expressed faith in his players and vowed to find solutions.

"Still, I believe in my group, I believe in my players, even when we are going down. Basketball is a game of ups and downs. The important thing is to find the reason why we played like that, get better and have a better picture in the future."

The Londoners leaned on defense and controlled the game from start to finish

Axel Bouteille emerged from the bench to lead Buducnost VOLI Podgorica to a 71-84 win over NINERS Chemnitz in Round 7 on the 2025-26 BKT EuroCup.

"We knew it was going to be a hard game. Chemnitz plays very good basketball, fast, aggressive, and we tried to prepare for it well, knowing we were missing two players, so it was not easy to adjust," Buducnost VOLI Podgorica head coach Andrej Zakelj said to open the post-game press conference.

His words were tied to the absence, due to injury, of two of his most important players, Yogi Ferrell and James Thompson, who were unable to travel with the team to Chemnitz for Round 7 of the BKT Eurocup.

Zakelj and Buducnost found their answer in the figure of Axel Bouteille, who emerged from the bench to lead his team to the 71-84 win in what was an evenly matched contest in which neither side managed to break away by more than 7 points until the final stretch. At that crucial moment, three-pointers—one by Juwan Morgan and another by Bouteille himself—definitively ended Chemnitz's resistance.

"The game was close till the end, and I think we stuck together in offense and defense the whole game," Bouteille said. "We were up and down during the game, but we stuck together and made some big plays at the end."

Bouteille excelled in what every other player failed to deliver: consistency. In a game that saw almost a dozen lead changes, with no team or player able to take complete control, the French forward erupted for 26 points and 9 boards, contributing steadily throughout all four quarters.

He helped Buducnost with 9 points in the first period off the bench, added 4 in the second, provided 7 in the third, and 6 more in the fourth. He hit crucial three-pointers to push his team back in front 56-59 early in the fourth period and closed the circle with another one to confirm his team's lead at 71-76, entering the final stretch.

"It was a tough game; they are a physical team. They're athletic, they play for 40 minutes with high intensity. So, we tried to match that, and we got the win at the end," he celebrated. "It's basic, but we take one game at a time. It was a good one for us today on the road, and we'll see next game. But for sure, it's an important win for us."

Beyond Bouteille's scoring prowess, Buducnost leaned on another key factor in the fourth quarter, which both teams entered tied at 59: suffocating defense.

"I think \[it was our\] defense," Zakelj remarked. "I think \[giving up just\] 71 points is a good thing against Chemnitz, who is a team that flies, they play very fast with a lot of possessions. It's not easy \[to stop them\], you know. I think that was the difference."

In the final 10 minutes, Chemnitz went 1-of-11 from behind the arc and committed 6 turnovers, which allowed Buducnost to outscore its opponent 15-28 in that period and gave the fans traveling from Podgorica plenty of reasons to celebrate.

"These are the guys that are supporting us all season long. If they can come away, they are here," Zakelj praised. "And I have to thank them. Yeah, they are far from home, so it's not easy, but this court is not easy. This game was not easy to prepare for, but in the end, I think we won fairly."

This fourth consecutive victory solidifies Buducnost's position in Group B at 5-2, now just one win behind leader Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse and three games clear of seventh place, keeping them firmly in contention as the BKT Eurocup campaign unfolds.

Kennedy acknowledged that Cedevita’s airtight defense made the difference after Reyer led 25-30 early in the second quarter.

“We like to bring the energy in front of our home crowd and we played good defense throughout,” the Irish big man said in his post-game comments. “We had a big third quarter and then held them off in the fourth. It’s a big win for us as it means we keep going forward towards the top of the table.”

Gibson got going in the first half as he bedazzled his markers with unstoppable drives to the basket and also drained a treble of three-pointers, as Reyer failed to contain the livewire guard.

Nikolic, in turn, pulled all the playmaking strings and the writing was on the wall for Reyer early in the second half as Cedevita went on a 12-1 run to open up a 57-44 lead and never looked back.

The advantage only got bigger as the hosts kept their feet on the gas, leaving head coach Zvezdan Mitrovic purring with delight after the final buzzer. 

“The guys played great defense and we capitalized on Reyer playing two games in the last four days,” the Montenegrin tactician said.  “An excellent effort from my team and I am very happy with the win.”

The defeat was a bitter pill to swallow for Mitrovic’s Croatian counterpart Neven Spahija, who made no excuse for his team’s meltdown as Stefan Nikolic was the only visiting player in double figures after netting 13 points.

Reyer also committed 15 turnovers against a mere 12 assists, shooting a miserable 5-of-23 from downtown while collecting a modest 28 boards, just over half as much as Cedevita. “I thought we were soft and devoid of energy in the first half but the second half was even worse,” Spahija said. “We can only congratulate Olimpija for their emphatic win and get back home to work.”

[Brynton Lemar](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/brynton-lemar/013261/) stole the show for Besiktas, matching his career high in the BKT EuroCup with 23 points. The American guard had yet to find his rhythm this season, so he answered any criticism with an excellent performance on Wednesday night.

He managed just six points in the first half but erupted in the third quarter, catching fire from deep and lifting his team’s performance. His timely triples in crucial moments helped seal the win and turned him into the decisive factor for the hosts.

“I just wanna thank my teammates, it’s all my teammates,” said Lemar after the game, staying humble and giving credit to his teammates. “They found me. Coming here, I had to adjust a little bit. I believe in myself, I trusted in my work. Good results show but it’s a team sport, team win.”

Coach Dusan Alimpijevic praised Lemar’s performance, saying: “He showed his quality today. I’m very happy for him, he is a hard worker. I hope he will continue like this.”

In a fast-paced first half, Trento held the momentum with aggressive defense and effective offensive sets. The Italian side disrupted Besiktas’s offensive plans and forced 7 turnovers on the hosts, building a double-digit lead. Besiktas stayed in the game with shots from deep but trailed by 5 points at halftime.

“We played two totally different halves,” said Coach Alimpijevic. “First half we were a little bit soft; in the second we showed our character and toughness. Offense in the first half was not that much of a problem, because we scored 45 points with some missed open shots. It could be more over 50. It’s a bigger problem when you receive on a halftime 50 points at your home.”

Besiktas came out of the locker room with a burst of intensity, starting the half with aggressive defense and exploiting Trento’s lapses. Trento came into the game as the second-best team in the competition in offensive rebounds, averaging 13.5 per game. After Round 2, things looked pretty bleak at [Turk Telekom Ankara](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/turk-telekom-ankara/ttk/). Languishing in Group B with a 0-2 record, it seemed that much of the preseason hype surrounding the team was going to fail to deliver.

That changed in Round 3. The return of [Kyle Alexander](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/kyle-alexander/011973/) has coincided with a major uptick in form for Turk Telekom, which is now riding a five-game win streak following a 74-100 win at [Lietkabelis Panevezys](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/teams/lietkabelis-panevezys/lkb/) on Wednesday night. At present, there is no team in the BKT EuroCup that is hotter than Turk Telekom.

With coach Erdem Can stressing the importance of defense after giving up 96 and 88 points, respectively, in the first two rounds of the campaign, Turk Telekom has held its opponents to 77 points or fewer during its run of five straight victories.

The last two rounds, however, have shown that the team’s offense is only getting better, posting what was a season-high 95 points in [a 95-67 beatdown of Panionios Cosmorama Travel Athens](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/news/turk-telekom-keeps-rolling-as-strong-second-half-seals-win-over-panionios/) in Round 6 before setting a new season-best mark with a century of points at Lietkabelis.

To find the last time that Turk Telekom poured in 100 points or more, you’ve got to go back to December 14, 2022. That day, the Turkish side – led by Coach Can in his first spell in charge – [lit up the London Lions in a 102-74 win](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/game-center/2022-23/turk-telekom-ankara-london-lions/U2022/76/#box-score). Turk Telekom would go on to reach the EuroCup Final that season, with Can being named the EuroCup Coach of the Year.

There are certainly comparisons that can be made between that team and this current group, with Turk Telekom getting regular contributions this season – and particularly during this recent stretch – from star guards [Jaleen Smith](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jaleen-smith/011192/) and [Michael Devoe](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/michael-jaden-devoe/013922/), towering centers Alexander and [Kris Bankston](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/kris-bankston/012760/), and forward [Jordan Usher](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jordan-usher/013265/). On the road at Lietkabelis, [Dogus Ozdemiroglu](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/dogus-ozdemiroglu/006640/) put in a true captain’s performance with a career-high 19 points and 5 steals.

One thing that will have impressed Coach Can the most about Wednesday’s win in Lithuania was the way in which his team moved the ball, as Turk Telekom had a season-high 31 assists, just one off tying the club’s all-time record in the EuroCup.

“It was a good team performance,” Coach Can told EuroLeague TV after the game. “Everybody was really locked in. We were focused.

“We know how dangerous Lietkabelis is at home, so we prepared ourselves. I want to thank my players, really. Defensively we made some mistakes, but at the end of the day our aggressiveness was good. Offensively we shared the ball well, that was one of the keys. At the end of the day, it’s one game and there’s a long season in front of us.”

In addition to Ozdemiroglu’s 19 points, Usher reached the same total as he netted a double-digit number of points in successive games for the first time this season.

“Coach trusts me to keep playing. I had a good one tonight and I hope to keep it rolling,” he admitted. “It’s different people’s nights on different nights, so I’m glad our team is rolling. Let’s get some more wins.”

Next week will see a mouth-watering clash between the red-hot Turk Telekom and fellow Turkish League side [Besiktas GAIN Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/teams/besiktas-gain-istanbul/bes/), which shares a 5-2 record in Group B. For both teams, it will be a massive test and one that could help neutrals determine which team is the favorite to go all the way this season.

U-BT Cluj-Napoca recorded a 110-86 home win over BAXI Manresa at Nove PG Arena in nearby Turda, Romania, in Round 7 of the BKT EuroCup

Learning from past issues, Cluj blasts past Manresa

One of the things that separates good teams from title contenders is their ability to recognize recurring problems and find effective solutions to them. U-BT Cluj-Napoca did exactly that on its way to a 110-86 home win over BAXI Manresa at Nove PG Arena in nearby Turda, Romania. After a near-perfect first half, Cluj playmaker [Fatts Russell](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/daron-russell/013943/) identified a potential issue and how to address it.

Cluj led 57-41 at halftime, matching the club's first-half scoring record. It had previously scored that amount in the first half of a 105-83 home loss against Prometey Slobozhanske on December 14, 2022. After leading 51-57 at the break, CLuj was outscored by Prometey 54-25 after the break.

Three players already had PIRs of 14 or better. Despite averaging 8.2 points in his previous six games, [Trey Woodbury](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/trey-woodbury/013251/) had 15 points at halftime. Russell contributed 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists by in the first two quarters. [Dusan Miletic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/dusan-miletic/009896/) added 6 points and 6 rebounds. Cluj had outrebounded Manresa 21-14 and made 13 of 19 two-pointers (68.4% 2FG), 7 of 14 three-pointers (50% 3FG), and forced 10 first-half turnovers.

Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens head coach [Ergin Ataman](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/panathinaikos-aktor-athens/pan/ataman-ergin) would probably call this "perfect basketball," but at halftime, Russell had other ideas.

"We did a really good job. I feel like we have to cut down our turnovers but that's kind of a risk with how fast we play. As long as we keep playing defense and hold them under 40 \[points\] in the second half, we will be fine," Russell said. "We have to come out strong in the third quarter. We have been struggling in the third quarter before. If we put the emphasis on that, we will be fine."

Trey Woodbury had a career-high 26 points to lead U-Bt Cluj-Napoca to a 110-86 home victory over BAXI Manresa in Round 7 of the BKT EuroCup Regular Season.

Russell was right: Cluj saw more than half of its lead disappear in the opening 3 minutes of the second half. [Grant Golden](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/grant-golden/013849/) and [Louis Olinde](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/louis-olinde/006919/) quickly helped Manresa get within 59-53. Cluj responded through an unstoppable Woodbury, who laid the foundation for a career-best performance. The hosts' most experienced players stepped up at the right time, as [Jeffery Taylor](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/jeffery-taylor/006546/), [Patrick Richard](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/eurocup/players/patrick-richard/011801/), and Miletic quickly helped Cluj restore a 77-62 margin—more than enough to control the game until the final buzzer.

Woodbury finished the game with a career-high 26 points. Russell added 23 and Miletic tallied 10 points and 12 rebounds. The three players combined for a PIR of 75, almost as much as Manresa as a team (86). Cluj set a club record for most points in a non-overtime game. It beat Neptunas Klaipeda 102-107 earlier this season behind 37 points from Russell. It also matched a club record with 28 assists. It had that many assists in a 104-83 home victory over Veolia Towers Hamburg on January 3, 2025.

The game could have gone South for Cluj in the third quarter, but the team turned a potentially dangerous situation into a blowout win, which is a great sign in the future.
