"First of all, I would like to congratulate my players, the team, and I would like like to say thank you and congratulations to our fans, who took us the victory today. It was a very difficult game against a great opponent which we have a lot of respect for. In the end, in the last minute, we really suffered. They made some great shots and came back to the game, but in the end, with good free throw shooting, we earned the right to play the final. We are going into the fourth week of elimination games, so we will see you back here on Wednesday. 

"Like I said before, I am proud of the way we are following, not just one game today. This is a team, we don't have just one star to depend on, but 12 or more players, and all work so that the team plays well. Everybody contributed today. \[Khalifa\] was a bit not-so-outstanding in the last few weeks, and at the end of the third quarter, his plus-minus was +19. He closed the paths to the basket, used his athleticism to run against Tomic in the fastbreak.... each one, with work, is able and ready to play a great game any day. I am very proud of this."

"First of all, congratulations to Gran Canaria, and I wish them all the best next Wednesday. Second, I think that the game was very close, with a lot of small details. I guess this is what you will print, but it was a scandal that in the third quarter, Gran Canaria arrived to the final 30 seconds with no fouls, when both teams were competing for the game, playing at the same physical level. But we carried on and at some point, Gran Canaria managed to play a little bit better than us. If not, it wouldn't have won. Gran Canaria took 40 free throw attempts in this kind of game, when I don't consider my team as a dirty one. I insist, we had a very good EuroCup, and I think Gran Canaria took advantage of its great regular season. It had the home-court advantage, and it was noticed today. As I said, I wish Jaka \[Lakovic\] and his team all the best in the final. We will carry on through our road."

In a thriller that came down to the final shot, Gran Canaria advanced to the 7DAYS EuroCup Final for the second time in club history by downing Joventut Badalona 89-86 at Gran Canaria Arena on Wednesday. Gran Canaria remained undefeated at home in this EuroCup season (12-0) and is set to host Turk Telekom Ankara in the final on Wednesday, May 3. Joventut finished its EuroCup season with a 15-6 record.

Andrew Albicy led the winners with 17 points. Nico Brussino got 14, Vitor Benite added 13 on 7-of-7 free-throw shooting and Damien Inglis had 11 for Gran Canaria, which returns to the final for the first time since losing to Khimki Moscow Region in 2015. Andres Feliz paced Joventut with 21 points. Ante Tomic added 18 while Vladimir Brodziansky had 13 and Joel Parra 12 for Joventut, which lost the chance to reach the EuroCup final for the first time since lifting the trophy in 2008.

Tomic got Joventut going with a jump hook and Feliz added a put-back layup for a 0-4 lead. A.J. Slaughter and Brussino each struck from downtown to put Gran Canaria in charge, 6-4. Tomic dunked twice and Broadziansky scored down low for an 8-10 Joventut edge. Ferran Bassas and Benite stepped up for the hosts, then Inglis followed a three-point play with a jumper for a 18-15 Gran Canaria lead after 10 minutes. 

Benite took over with a three-point play and Bassas struck from downtown to boost the hosts' lead to 26-17. Feliz rescued Joventut with consecutive layups and a three-pointer. Olek Balcerowski took over with a put-back slam and Inglis's triple gave the hosts fresh air at 31-26. Brodziansky and Kyle Guy each buried a three-pointer and got help from Simon Birgander to restore a 38-39 Joventut lead. Guy and Tomic kept the visitors in charge, 42-43, at the break.

Brodziansky made back-to-back jump hooks after the break and Parra added another one for a 46-49 Joventut lead. Brussino, Feliz and John Shurna each made a three-pointer, then Khalifa Diop's layup set a 54-52 Gran Canaria lead. Albicy bettered Feliz's jump hook with a three-pointer and added a close-range basket, getting help from Slaughter and Diop to boost the hosts' lead to 65-56 after 30 minutes.

Tomic scored down low early in the fourth quarter, igniting a 0-6 run that Parra capped with a turnaround jumper for a 65-62 Joventut deficit. Benite downed a mid-range jumper and Miquel Salvo added a backdoor layup, but Tomic and Guillem Vives kept the visitors within 71-68. Benite downed another jumper and Albicy beat the shot clock with a three-pointer that ignited the crowd, 77-70, with over 2 minutes left. Joventut was not done, as Parra, Tomic and Feliz got the guests within 85-83 with 14.0 seconds left. Brussino made free throws and Parra did better with a wild three-pointer, 87-86. Brussino returned to the line and made both attempts with 5.7 seconds remaining. Guy missed a running shot at the buzzer.

Turk Telekom suffocated Prometey with strong defense. Prometey made just 11 of 30 two-point shots. That shooting percentage (36.7%) was Prometey's season low. The hosts had never before shot lower than 40% inside the arc this season. Their lowest two-point percentage until this game was 43.3% in a 94-68 regular season home win over Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana. Prometey also struggled from downtown, burying just 12 of 39 attempts (30.8%). Before this game, Prometey ad made 57.9% of its two-point shots and took 29.9 three-point shots on average.

Turk Telekom's game plan forced Prometey to play in a different way. The visitors were also quite accurate from beyond the arc, downing 11 of 23 three-pointers (47.8%). Turk Telekom also did better inside the arc, making 45% of its two-pointers (18 of 40). Turk Telekom finished the game with 4 blocked shots. Prometey averaged 3.1 blocks before the game, but didn't get any against Turk Telekom. With so many missed shots, Prometey's 17 offensive rebounds were not as decisive as they could have been.

"I mean, it is very difficult to explain. I am proud of my players, my team, my organization. Turkish people came over here and supported us, but I would really like to give this win to the people that we lost on the big earthquake. Whoever we lost, I don't know, it seems like more than 50,000 people that we lost, for their honor. We tried to honor them, and this is for their memory. That is all I am going to say.

"Again, I am proud of my players. They did it, they won and succeeded. They need to get all the credit, I love them. Of course, Prometey is one of the toughest teams in the EuroCup competition. They haven't lost in 30 games, I believe, and 13 in the EuroCup. So it is obvious how tough it was, and we played on the road. We were locked in and every single possession mattered to us. We took care \[of the game\] in the right way. Again, this is only one game and we need to win the next one. We want to focus on the next one. As I said from the beginning, I am not naming one player, we are a team, so every single one needs to give everything, whatever is needed. It is not one name because the whole season, it has been teamwork."

"We wanted to isolate on Bouteille \[in the final play\] and didn't make the shot. That's life in basketball. I think all the respect goes to the players, they made a great job with all the problems that we had. We played against great teams, they made some big shots, we played good defense and then they made them. That's life, we played a great season and I hope next season, we will continue like this.

"Congratulations to Telekom. They won this game, I don't know if they deserved it or not, but they won this game, so congratulations and good luck to them. I think that it was a typical playoff game, semifinal, a lot of ups and downs. They made some big shots and we didn't, one-on-one, Bouteille... it is part of the game. In the end, when the game went here and there, the little things \[made the difference\]. I think we missed too many free throws today. 

"In the end, to summarize the season, I am proud of my players and what they did, proud of the organization and the fans. In the beginning, I think we had 500 people, and you saw people coming. Everybody will think about this game and remember it for weeks but in the end, we need to be proud of our season."

Grant dunked and then Yilmaz and Bouteille each struck from beyond the arc in a 1-10 run that brought the visitors within 27-26. Taylor buried a three-pointer that completed Turk Telekom's comeback, 30-31. Bouteille and Jones stepped up to boost the visitors' lead to 38-41 at halftime.

Stephens took over with a three-point play soon after that. Jones kept pushing Turk Telekom, getting help from Taylor and Nate Sestine for a 41-48 lead. Illia Sydorov, Oleksandr Lypovyy and Clavell each struck from downtown but Grant singlehandedly kept his team ahead, 50-56. Prometey found answers from the foul line, as Balvin and Agada brought their team within 56-61 after 30 minutes.

Bouteille and Grant each buried a shot, which prompted Prometey to call timeout at 58-65. Lypovyy fired in a three-pointer and Sydorov scored off a steal to make it 63-65. Grant and Taylor rescued Turk Telekom with a jumper apiece before Agada and Bouteille exchanged three-pointers. Balvin's dunk got Prometey within 68-73 with over 2 minutes left. Clavell ignited the crowd with a layup-plus-foul and Stephens added a triple that completed Prometey's comeback, 74-73. Taylor nailed a mid-range jumper with 31.4 seconds left. Agada missed and Jones went to the line with 11.6 seconds remaining. He split attempts to leave the door open for Prometey, but Stephens missed twice from downtown before the final buzzer

Two veteran point guards, Andrew Albicy and Guillem Vives, will have a chance to do something they have never done in the 7DAYS EuroCup before – face one another – when Gran Canaria and Joventut Badalona go to battle in Wednesday's semifinal tie between the two sides.

Two veteran point guards, [Andrew Albicy](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/andrew-albicy/003425/) and [Guillem Vives](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/guillem-vives/002361/), will have a chance to do something they have never done in the 7DAYS EuroCup before – face one another – when Gran Canaria and Joventut Badalona go to battle in Wednesday's semifinal tie between the two sides.

The two players have combined for nearly 200 appearances in the competition over more than a decade, but this will be the first time that they will be on opposite sides of the floor. Curiously, this is also the first-ever EuroCup meeting between Spanish League rivals Gran Canaria and Joventut – and what a time for it to occur, with a spot in the 2023 EuroCup Finals on the line.

For Albicy, this semifinal will be his 100th appearance in the EuroCup. He has 79 starts so far and boasts career averages of 8.2 points and 5.2 assists. Albicy is the only player in EuroCup history that has averaged at least 5.0 assists and played in at least 70 games.

Albicy made his debut in the 2011-12 season and is currently in his seventh EuroCup campaign with a fourth different club. He helped MoraBanc Andorra reach the EuroCup Semifinals in 2018, and he helped Gran Canaria do the same in 2021. His career average PIR of 12.0 is the third highest for players with more than 95 appearances.

Vives, on the other hand, was a EuroCup champion with Valencia Basket in 2019. He has 97 appearances across six EuroCup seasons, but with lesser averages of 5.0 points, 3.2 assists and 1.7 rebounds.

In more than half of those 97 games, Vives has come off the bench – and he has done the same in 11 of the 19 fixtures he has disputed this season, averaging 5.3 points on 40.0% three-point shooting, 3.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds.

His role – and importance – has grown due to the injury of veteran point guard Pau Ribas. Vives scored 11 points on 3-for-5 three-point shooting, in addition to grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing 3 assists, in Joventut's eighthfinals win over the London Lions. He then played 26 minutes, the fourth most this season, in the team's dramatic quarterfinal triumph against Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv. That night, Vives finished with 5 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal.

Albicy has had slightly better averages this season, including ranking just outside top 10 in assists (4.8 apg.) and steals (1.4 spg.). He had 5 points, 5 assists and 2 steals in the eighthfinals against Frutti Extra Bursaspor, before recording 7 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals in 20 minutes during Gran Canaria's comfortable quarterfinal win over Paris Basketball.

On Wednesday night, in his third appearance in the EuroCup Semifinals, the 33-year-old Albicy will try to reach the EuroCup Finals for the first time. Vives, meanwhile, is trying to return there again, four years after lifting the title.

Head-to-head: Caleb Agada, Prometey vs. Erkan Yilmaz, Turk Telekom

Two of the 7DAYS EuroCup's best pickpockets are set to face off in Wednesday's first semifinal, when Prometey Slobozhanske and do-it-all forward [Caleb Agada](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/caleb-agada/011944/) comes up against Turk Telekom Ankara and swingman [Erkan Yilmaz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/erkan-yilmaz/006372/).

Agada enters the semifinals ranked second in the competition for steals with 2.3 steals per game, and he has recorded at least 1 in all but one of his 17 appearances, including 3 last week in the quarterfinals against Promitheas Patras. On the other hand, Yilmaz had 1 steal or more in 17 of his 20 games, and in 10 of those he has had multiple steals.

But both players have contributed way more to their teams than just what they can do on the defensive end of the floor.

For the 28-year-old, Agada that has been true all season, with the Canadian having enjoyed an impressive debut campaign in the EuroCup. He has been everywhere for Prometey, which is currently on a 13-game winning streak. Agada is Prometey's second-best scorer (14.8 ppg.), the team leader for assists (4.1 apg.), and he also averages 3.8 rebounds per game.

Agada scored in double figures in each of his 16 regular-season games, and Prometey missed him big in the eighthfinals after he picked up an injury in the second quarter of team's regular season finale. Agada returned last week and, even though he scored just 5 points, he had 7 assists, 3 steals and 3 rebounds in less than 15 minutes on the floor.

While Agada and Prometey hope he will be closer to full strength in the semis, Yilmaz has played some of his best basketball during the 2023 EuroCup Playoffs.

For Yilmaz, this is his third season in the EuroCup with a third Turkish team, as he first appeared in the competition with Banvit Bandirma in 2015-16 before later returning with Bahcesehir in 2020-21. Yet, this is by far the best season that the 25-year-old has had, posting 7.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals this season.

But Yilmaz took his game up a notch in the eighthfinals, amassing 8 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists in a come-from-behind win over Germani Brescia. Then, he had 2 points, 3 rebounds and another 5 assists as he helped Turk Telekom erase a 14-point deficit to beat ratiopharm Ulm.

Only one player has pulled down more rebounds in the first two rounds of the playoffs than Yilmaz, while he also ranks seventh in the EuroCup Playoffs with 5.0 steals per game.

Yilmaz and Agada now bring their all-round styles of play into the semifinals, with both determined to help their respective teams make history and reach the EuroCup Finals. There, a win against either Gran Canaria or Joventut Badalona would see it book its place in next year's Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
