Veteran center Michael Eric was a big part of Turk Telekom's 84-89 win over London Lions. The triumph improved Turk Telekom's record to 12-5, secured it home-court advantage in the eighthfinals, and left the team with a good chance of securing second place in Group B in next week's regular-season finale. Eric, a 2018 EuroCup champion with Darussafaka Istanbul, came off the bench and played just 13:15 minutes, but it was enough to dominate the paint. He made 6-of-7 two-point shots in scoring 13 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. In his time on the floor, Eric had a +17 in +/- column, by far the highest of any player in this game.

Veolia Towers Hamburg pulled out a thrilling, playoff-clinching 89-87 win over Dolomiti Energia Trento and big man Yoeli Childs had a huge performance on the glass. Childs pulled down 20 rebounds, which are tied for third-most all-time in the competition, including 11 offensive rebounds which are tied for the all-time record and the EuroCup's most in 20 years. Childs also scored 18 points on 9-for-15 shooting and had 4 assists for a PIR of 36, tying his personal best in the team's most important game of the season.

Germani Brescia improved its position in the Group A standings by holding off Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana 84-82 on Tuesday night. Brescia's mid-season addition, point guard Aleksej Nikolic, set a career-high by dishing 8 assists, in addition to sinking both of his three-point attempts. Nikolic spent 21 minutes on the floor against the club from his native land, against several of his fellow Slovenian national team members on the other side, and he guided Brescia to a big lead which it managed to preserve.

It's hard to find a more productive role in Round 17 than what Vitor Benite did for Gran Canaria in a resounding 69-94 road win at Buducnost VOLI Podgorica. Benite spent just over 11 minutes on the floor, and during that time made both of his two-point shots and 2-of-3 three-pointers for 10 points. Benite opened his account with 2:00 minutes left in the first quarter, with Gran Canaria up 11-18, sparking a 0-6 quarter-ending run, and then strung together 8 more points, including back-to-back threes in the first 4 minutes of the second quarter to make it 16-35. His 10 points in a 5-17 run put Gran Canaria in control and the team never looked back.

On Wednesday night, ratiopharm Ulm registered an important 78-85 road win at Mincidelice JL Bourg en Bresse, and it was a big night for Ulm's first-year forward Joshua Hawley. Hawley set personal bests with 15 points, 5 steals and a PIR of 22. He was 5-of-9 from the floor, including 2-for-2 from long range, and also pulled down 6 rebounds. Hawley scored 10 points in the first half, helping Ulm build a 34-54 halftime lead, then had 3 steals in the final quarter to help preserve it and improve to a 10-7 record in Group A, with a great chance to secure home-court advantage in the eighthfinals.

Joventut Badalona kept alive its chances to win Group A with a 74-80 win at Umana Reyer Venice behind the play of its point guard Andres Feliz. The 25-year old finished the game with 13 points, tied his career high with 7 assists, and was tied for a team-high with 7 rebounds. It is not the first time this season Feliz came close to a triple-double, but it was the first time he scored in double figures while posting at least 7 assists and rebounds apiece. And he did all that in 23 minutes and 15 seconds on the floor.

With a new single-game 7DAYS EuroCup scoring record for this decade and a game-winning three-pointer that helped his team clinch home-court advantage in the upcoming eighthfinals, Anthony Cowan of Promitheas Patras earned his second consecutive MVP of the Round honor this week. His performance index rating of 38 was the EuroCup's best in Round 17. Cowan poured in 38 points in a crucial 84-81 victory over visiting Paris Basketball, marking the EuroCup's highest individual scoring total in five years, since Scottie Wilbekin scored 42 for Darussafaka in Game 2 of the 2018 semifinals against FC Bayern Munich. Cowan made 6 of 8 three-pointers and 10 of 10 free throws to go with 6 assists in less than 30 minutes on the floor. His scoring total and free throws made were both club records.

Childs scored 18 points, pulled a career-high 20 rebounds and dished 4 assists. His 11 offensive boards were the most in a EuroCup game in 20 years. His Hamburg teammate [Anthony Polite](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/anthony-polite/011937/) followed with a PIR of 28, which two more players on losing sides in Round 17 – [Erick Green](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/erick-green/005159/) of Buducnost VOLI Podgorica and [Matteo Spagnolo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/matteo-spagnolo/008173/) of Dolomiti Energia Trento – also matched.

[Anthony Cowan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/anthony-cowan/012003/) of Promitheas Patras led all scorers this week with an overall season-high 38 points. This was also a new record for Patras in the 7DAYS EuroCup. [Yogi Ferrell](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/yogi-ferrell/011281/) of already-eliminated Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana leads all scorers with his 19.1 points per game. [Yoeli Childs](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/yoeli-childs/012013/) of Veolia Hamburg Towers was a giant under the glass with 20 rebounds, tying for the third-best mark ever in the competition, just behind Lazaros Papdopoulos's 22 in 2004-05 and Alen Omic's 21 earlier this season in Round 4. Childs ripped 11 offensive rebounds, the most in the EuroCup in 20 years. Buducnost VOLI Podgorica [Alpha Kaba](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/alpha-kaba/007855/) still leads all rebounders for this season with 10.9 rebounds per game. [Ferran Bassas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/ferran-bassas/001607/) of Gran Canaria was the only player this week to reach the double figures in assists, with 10. [J'Covan Brown](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/j-covan-brown/011991/) of Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv remains the best passer overall with an average of 6.8 assists. [Josh Hawley](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/joshua-hawley/012024/) of ratiopharm Ulm made a round-high 5 steals. Slask Wroclaw's [Jeremiah Martin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/jeremiah-martin/011899/) leads all players in this category with 2.5 steals per game. Finally, [Karlo Matkovic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/karlo-matkovic/009395/) of Olimpija blocked more shots than any other player, 3, this week. Paris Basketball big man [Ismael Kamagat](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/eurocup/players/ismael-kamagate/011926/)e still leads the league rankings with 1.6 blocks per game. There was only one double-double this week, the one by Childs, thanks to his 18 points and 20 rebounds.

Shooting meltdown put Slask to the sword against Hapoel

Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv never seemed to hit top gear in its 76-87 win at Slask Wroclaw and the visitors were able to cruise through the contest as the Polish side fell apart in the closing stages, having battled hard for 35 minutes or so to stay in the game.

Slask looked capable of pulling off what would have been only its second EuroCup win of the season in 17 games, as it shot 7 of 14 from three-point range in the first half with Jakub Niziol nailing 3 of those efforts. However, the home side misfired heavily after the break, going 0 of 10 from beyond the arc while they also finished the match with 13 turnovers.

"In the first half, we played like a team and passed the ball," Slask head coach Ertugrul Erdogan commented. "But when you don’t play together you’re in trouble. We’re not a great team but when we play together we are a dangerous team,"

Hapoel ended on 7-of-17 shooting from three-point range, having racked up 22 assists to Slask’s 16. The visitors also had 3 turnovers fewer than the Polish team, making the most of their deeper roster to come out on top.

Having already secured a top-four finish in Group B and hence home-court advantage in the eighthfinals before it brushed Slask aside, Hapoel now has a chance to finish as the group’s runners-up – much to the delight of its head coach Danny Franco.

"We are having a great second round \[of the regular season\] in the EuroCup, our results are great and we are very happy with that,” he said.  "We’ll keep on going as much as we can and keep on dreaming as long as we can."

Promitheas Patras had to battle hard to beat Paris Basketball 84-81 in Round 17 and improve to 11-6 in the standings. Three-pointers made the difference in the game.

Promitheas led 81-71 with over 2 minutes left before Paris used a 0-10 run to tie the game. That's when Anthony Cowan took matters into his own hands, running the game clock down before burying the go-ahead three-pointer with 4.3 seconds left. He rounded out a near-perfect performance: Cowan finished the game with EuroCup season-high and Promitheas record 38 points. Joe Young had scored 34 points against Gran Canaria in Round 2 this season.

Paris buried 6 of 26 three-point shots in Patras. Its shooting percentage (23.1% 3FG) was its third lowest this season: Paris shot under 20% on the road against Hapoel Vegan Friendly Jerusalem (16.3%) and at home against Promitheas (18.% 3FG). Promitheas sank 10 of 21 three-pointers (47.6% 3FG), and Cowan went 6 of 8 from downtown. Promitheas made 20 of 53 three-pointers in its two wins against Paris this season while limiting its opponents to 12-of-58 shooting from downtown.

The key to coming out victorious from Wednesday’s game was Prometey's dominance in offensive rebounds, 

Offensive rebounds gave Prometey the edge over Cluj

U-BT Cluj-Napoca produced a hard-fought comeback and turned the game around in the last quarter, but Prometey Slobozhanske defended well and conceded just 4 points in the last 6 minutes to secure an 87-96 win. Yet, Prometey was anything but solid in defense overall, as it allowed Cluj to score 87 points.

The key to coming out victorious from Wednesday’s game was the visitors' dominance in offensive rebounds, beating Cluj 13-17 in that category to produce 23 second-chance points. Heading into Wednesday’s clash, Prometey boasted an average of 12.8 offensive rebounds per game - the second-best mark in the 7DAYS EuroCup. As Cluj head coach Mihai Silvasan pointed out in the post-match press conference, his players were aware that Prometey could cause them trouble with their offensive boards, but they struggled to stop them.

"We allowed \[Prometey to grab\] 17 offensive rebounds and that’s not what we wanted," Silvasan stressed. "We prepared for this game knowing that this team scores lots of points – they are top in the EuroCup in terms of points scored per game. So offensive rebounds and transitions are their weapons and we couldn’t stop at least one of these weapons."

Indeed, eight Prometey players grabbed at least 1 offensive rebound each, with Ondrej Balvin grabbing 5 boards – his second-best mark this season. He was followed by DJ Kennedy, who added 3. Meanwhile, 6 of their 17 offensive rebounds came in the last quarter, when Prometey needed them the most in their bid to seal their 10th straight victory.

The big man buried 4 three-pointers in scoring 18 points and added 5 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks in Joventut’s 74-80 road victory over Umana Reyer Venice in Round 17.

For the season, the 26-year-old American is averaging 10.6 points in 17 games. But the 7DAYS EuroCup debutant continued the strange rhythm of good games in odd-numbered rounds followed by subpar showings in even-numbered ones.

Ellenson came up big for Joventut in Venice

Ellenson scored just 6 points in Round 16 against U-BT Cluj-Napoca, and he averaged just 4.6 points in Rounds 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16. All told, he averaged 7.0 points in the eight even-numbered games thus far.

On the other hand, six of Ellenson’s seven top-scoring games came in odd-numbered rounds. He has now tallied at least 12 points in each of the last five games and for the nine odd-numbered games Ellenson averaged 13.8 points.
