### Lietkabelis must get back on track on offense

Lietkabelis comes off a club-low scoring performance against Joventut Badalona in Round 15, when it mustered just 50 points. Lietkabelis shot the ball with low percentages (35.7% inside the arc and 19.2% from downtown) and only pulled down 8 offensive rebounds. Things are much better for Coach Nenad Canak's team at home, where it has made 56.3% of its two-pointers and 41.1% from three-point range. Sticking to those good percentages against a physical team like Andorra could be the key for the hosts.

### Second-chance points could boost Turk Telekom

Turk Telekom started the season with a 5-3 record, but is 1-5 ever since, losing at home against Joventut Badalona and MoraBanc Andorra. Turk Telekom ranks 18th in offensive rebounds (8.6 orpg.) and has committed 13.4 turnovers per night. Powering the offensive glass should help Turk Telekom be more competitive, as Octavius Ellis and JaJuan Johnson are experienced, athletic big men ready to deliver under the basket. Stopping Jordan Caroline could be one of the biggest keys for the hosts, too.

### Good shooting is key for Trento 

Trento is on a nine-game losing streak and has lost against every opponent in Group A. Improving its shooting percentages should be its priority. Trento ranks last in two-point (45.0%) and three-point shooting percentages (30.4%). Sharing the ball better could also be critical, as Trento averages just 13.2 assists so far this season. Its point guards, Toto Forray and DeSonta Bradford, must distribute the ball better. Better shots should lead to better chances to win.

Back in Round 7, Andorra held on to beat Lietkabelis 81-76, a five-point margin that both teams will have on their minds in this contest. Andorra is riding a three-game winning streak while Lietkabelis has won five consecutive home games.

Two teams in a dire need of a victory look to get back to winning ways in the Turkish capital of Ankara as Turk Telekom (6-8) welcomes last-placed Trento (1-13) on Tuesday. Turk Telekom has lost three straight games and five of its last six. Trento has only one win this season and has lost each of its last nine games.

Partizan (10-5) will try to end its road losing streak when it pays a visit to Slask (3-11) on Tuesday. Partizan sits in second place in Group A but has lost four consecutive games away from home, each by at least 7 points. Slask came within a three-point shot of beating Partizan in Belgrade and enters this contest knowing it can boost its playoffs chances with a win.

In Group A's lone Wednesday game, Metropolitans (9-6) hosts group leader Joventut (12-3). The visitors, already qualified to the next phase, would secure first place in Group A and inch closer to holding home-court advantage throughout the playoffs with a victory Metropolitans, in the hunt for home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, will try to rebound from seeing its five-game win streak snapped last week in Belgrade.

## Group B

In Group B's sole Tuesday game, Bourg (5-10) welcomes Ulm (6-9) as they and others battle to stay alive into the playoffs. Ulm has a four-game losing streak but a victory in this one would give it a sweep of Bourg and, with help elsewhere in the group, even secure a playoff spot for the German team. Meanwhile, Bourg is currently on the outside looking, sitting in the ninth place in the standings, and will be looking to avenge a 10-point loss in Ulm from Round 7.

Bursaspor (6-9) will try to continue its run of good form when it hosts four-time champion Valencia (11-4). Bursaspor has won its last three home games, including two last week. Making it four home wins in a row would go a long way towards booking the Turkish hosts a place in the playoffs. Valencia has overcome injuries and a slow start this season to win seven of its last eight games, including the last three, and is battling to win Group B, where it shares the best record with Gran Canaria.

Promitheas (4-11) will try to climb up from the bottom of Group B standings when it welcomes Virtus (8-7) on Wednesday. Promitheas has come out victorious in two consecutive home games but needs to keep winning. Should it fail to beat Virtus, Promitheas could find itself eliminated from the playoff race. Virtus has not won a game outside of Italy since early December and will need to snap that streak to gain ground in the battle for one of the top four spots that carry home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Cedevita (8-7), the hottest team in the competition, will try to win its sixth straight game when it welcomes Reyer (7-8) to the Slovenian capital. Each of Cedevita's previous five games has come by at least 8 points. The team has been averaging 95.8 points per game and a win in this game would book its place in the playoffs. On the opposite end will be Reyer, which has lost its last three games, but can also qualify this week with a wins, as long as Bourg or Bursaspor loses.

Group B leader Gran Canaria (11-4) will be trying to protect its home floor as it welcomes Buducnost (9-6) in the final game of the round. Gran Canaria is 5-0 against Buducnost all-time in EuroCup action and will be looking to make six out of six as it tries to continue holding a grip on the Group B lead. Gran Canaria enters this contest having won four straight home games, while Buducnost will be aiming for a win that would go a long way towards securing third place in the group standings.

### High-Gravity Matchups

Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana scored perhaps the most important victory of Round 15 by beating Virtus Segafredo Bologna on road to pull even with them to take over fourth place in the Group B standings. Building a lead midway through the first quarter and never looking back, the visitors blocked just one shot, but nonetheless held the hosts to only 44.0% shooting in finishing situations within half-court sets – well below Virtus's impressive 66% standard for the season. 

### Rim Protection

While Cedevita's defenders faced more shots than they normally do inside, the way they held their own around the rim was key to the victory.  

This was nothing new for Cedevita, which has been one of three teams ahead of the curve in terms of rim protection in the EuroCup this season. Slask Wroclaw, Joventut Badalona and Cedevita have all done an impressive job protecting the paint, holding opposing teams to roughly 53% shooting at a short distance from the rim. With 10 teams other allowing 60% shooting or better in the same vicinity, their ability to consistently stop inside shooters represents a significant advantage over the average defense.

While all three of those teams have similar levels of success stopping such inside shots, their paths to get there have been quite different. Whether making driving anges tougher with physical defense, rotating quickly to disrupt someone's roll toward the basket, or outright blocking a dunk, there are many ways for teams to impact shots around the rim. Slask Wroclaw may have just three wins this season, but its half-court defense remains a major bright spot. Not only have Slask's defenders done a terrific job contesting shots inside, but they have limited direct passes to the rim consistently. As a result, Slask's opponents take a EuroCup-low 27.4% of their shots in half-court situations around the rim. By challenging opposing ball-handlers to beat them to the rim off the dribble, Slask's defenders have presented a unique test for opponents even without blocking an especially high volume of shots. 

Joventut, in contrast, has faced more shots around the rim than any other EuroCup team, but ranks second in blocks per game. The Group A leaders have great size and depth inside, which presents a different challenge for opposing offenses. Joventut gives up little to opposing guards around the rim and makes it very difficult for opposing teams to rebound their misses. 

Cedevita Olimpija ranks second-to-last in blocked shots per game and does not limit catch-and-finish opportunities around the rim but contests the ones they do allow at a very high level while giving up few drives to the basket.  In the win over Virtus, Cedevita had some issues early, but made adjustments and came on strong defensively after the first quarter. 

### Looking Ahead to Round 16

Slask will face perhaps their biggest test of the season in Round 16 as they welcome Partizan NIS Belgrade – the EuroCup's most efficient interior scoring team – to Centennial Hall. Slask took the current second-place team in Group A to the wire on the road at Stark Arena back in Round 7 thanks to a strong defensive effort, and will get the chance to earn a measure of revenge for that two-point defeat this week.
