Prepelic, Van Rossom led Valencia's comeback
Valencia trailed 55-65 with less than 8 minutes remaining and Virtus had full control of the game, forcing Valencia to play half-court offense and protecting the paint well. Jasiel Rivero found his first basket and Sam Van Rossom, who had been held scoreless until them, buried a three-pointer that got the crowd involved at 60-65. Valencia needed more firepower and found it in Klemen Prepelic, who scored 7 unanswered points - 4 free throws and a big bomb from downtown - to complete Valencia's comeback, 69-67. Valencia had rallied from a double-digit margin in barely 2 minutes.
Virtus had not said its final word, as Isaia Cordinier sank a three-pointer that put the visitors back in charge, 69-70. Valencia was on a roll, riding the wave of a great atmosphere at La Fonteta, and did not allow its opponents to score again until the final minute. Prepelic hit foul shots. Rivero scored around the basket and Van Rossom sank a critical three-pointer that sealed the outcome, 76-70. Rivero and Van Rossom combined for 15 points in the final 8 minutes and Prepelic had 10 of his 19 points in the last 6 minutes, allowing Valencia to enjoy a big win in come-from-behind fashion!
