Harrell made a difference on offense and defense
With Aris Midea Thessaloniki badly needing a win to snap its four-game losing streak, Ronnie Harrell stepped up on both ends of the floor, leading the team to a 69-60 victory over 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys on Tuesday. But Harrell also came up huge on the defensive end, picking up 5 steals and pulling down 4 defensive rebounds. Harrell was a big factor as Aris held Lietkabelis to a season-low 60 points while lowering its own league-leading points-against defense to 73.8 points per game.
Stipanovic was Cluj's tone-setter
U-BT Cluj-Napoca protected its home floor by holding off Slask Wroclaw 80-76 on Tuesday. Veteran big man Andrija Stipanovic had his best game of the season while tracing his team's path to victory. He scored 10 of his game-high 19 points in a game-opening 15-4 run that put Cluj firmly in control. Then, when Slask came all the way back and took the lead midway through the fourth quarter, he scored 2 more buckets in the final 95 seconds to help pull out the victory. Stipanovic made 9 of 11 two-point shots, one shy of his career high, as were his 19 points. The man who turns 37 years old next week helped Cluj improve to 8-3 record, and firmly position itself among those teams that will compete to host a playoff game.
