The BKT EuroCup always features young talents who promise bright futures. The 2023-24 season will be no different as many of the 20 teams include at least one interesting prospect.
Here are 10 players who go into the season as top candidates to win the 2024 EuroCup Rising Star award. To be eligible this season, a player must have been born on July 1, 2001, or later.
Davide Casarin, Umana Reyer Venice
Casarin, the son of club president Federico Casarin, returns to his childhood team after two years on loan. The point guard averaged 4.1 points and 1.8 assists as an 18-year-old last season in the Italian League with Verona.
Luka Scuka, Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana
Scuka was supposed to play last season on loan with Montenegro side Mornar Bar, but he underwent knee surgery and missed the entire 2022-23 campaign. The 21-year-old played in the EuroCup in 2021-22 and should play a bigger role this season.
Yannick Kraag, Joventut Badalona
The Netherlands native has been with Joventut since 2019 and played all of 2022-23 with the pro team, averaging 3.4 points and 2.0 rebounds as a 20-year-old. Kraag will likely take another step forward this season.
Szymon Nowicki, Slask Wroclaw
Nowicki returns to his native Poland after one season at Real Madrid, with which he won the Adidas Next Generation Tournament. The 18-year-old averaged 5.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in the Spanish fourth division last season.
