A maestro on the court, and an irreplaceable team leader off it, Milos Teodosic enjoyed another special season in which he added more trophies and accolades to his remarkable career.
Tribute to the Champs: Milos Teodosic
The former Turkish Airlines EuroLeague MVP repeated as an All-EuroLeague First Team selection and was voted as the EuroCup Finals MVP after leading Virtus Segafredo Bologna to the 7DAYS EuroCup crown. Injuries forced the 35-year-old Teodosic to miss seven regular-season games, which included a two-month absence due to a knee injury. However, none of that prevented the savvy playmaker from displaying consistency throughout the campaign and playing his best when it mattered the most.
Teodosic led the competition with 7.9 assists per game. During the regular season, he had at least 6 assists in each of his 11 appearances and at least 10 in four of those games, all while averaging 11.6 points in less than 25 minutes on the floor. The point guard then overcame a slow start to the postseason to lead Virtus through the thick and thin of the playoffs, all the way to the title.
He dished 8 assists in the quarterfinals win over ratiopharm Ulm and then scored 12 points with 4 assists in a semifinal road triumph over Valencia Basket. In the title game, Teodosic shined brighter than any other player. Just 23 minutes on the floor were enough for him to bag 21 points, shooting 4-of-8 from behind the arc after making just 3 of 18 triples in the previous three elimination contests. Teodosic also contributed 3 assists. That performance earned him the finals MVP award while winning the EuroCup trophy sent Teodosic into a select group of players who have won both the EuroLeague and EuroCup titles in their careers.
