Turk Telekom adds experienced guard Ismet Akpinar

Turk Telekom Ankara announced the signing of experienced guard Ismet Akpinar to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Akpinar (1.93 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Galatasaray Istanbul, where he averaged 7.2 points on 41.4% three-point shooting and 1.4 assists in 29 Turkish League games last season.
Akpinar started his career in his hometown Hamburg and also played for German clubs SC Rist Wedel, ALBA Berlin, ratiopharm Ulm and FC Bayern Munich, as well as Besiktas Emlakjet Istanbul, Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul and Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul of Turkiye. In 66 EuroCup games with ALBA, Ulm and Bahcesehir, Akpinar amassed 438 points and 107 assists. His brother Mutlu Akpinar also played 10 seasons for Turk Telekom, including four in the EuroCup.
Akpinar won the Turkish League with Fenerbahce in 2022 and lifted the German Cup with ALBA in 2014 and 2016. He has also been a member of the German national team.
