The guard has EuroLeague experience with FC Bayern Munich
Ulm pens Nelson Weidemann to two-year deal
ratiopharm Ulm announced on Monday that is has signed guard Nelson Weidemann to a two-year deal. Weidemann (1.90 meters, 25 years old) arrives from FC Bayern Munich, where he tallied 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists over 27 minutes in six EuroLeague games, including two as a starter. He also averaged 2.8 points in 23 German League games in helping Bayern to the German League and Cup double.
A product of the ALBA Berlin youth system, Weidemann first joined Bayern in 2016 and spent three seasons with the club. He later featured for Brose Bamberg, BG Goettingen and Niners Chemnitz before returning to Bayern last season. He has also played for the German national team at the junior and senior levels.
“Nelson is undoubtedly one of the strongest German guards,” Ulm’s sports director Thorsten Leibenath said of his new player. “His irrepressible engine on defense is contagious, his explosiveness and cold-heartedness are difficult to stop. Despite his still very young age, he is very experienced and will be able to bring a complete package into the mix.”
