Bretzel joined Ulm's U16 team before the start of the 2014-15 season and has since climbed up the ranks within the club's structure, playing for ratiopharm Basketballacademie Ulm, Orange Academy and the club's U19 squad. He made his first-team debut in the 2017-18 season, making his EuroCup debut against Dolomiti Energia Trento in that same season.
"For me personally, the extension represents above all the great trust between me and the club," Bretzel told the club's website. "I'm looking forward to the upcoming season and I'm especially looking forward to having fun together with the fans in the ratiopharm arena. From a sporting point of view, I want to continue to improve, take the next big step and earn a regular starting spot."
