LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne added depth and athleticism to its roster by inking swingman Yves Pons to a two-year deal, the club announced Tuesday. Pons (1.98 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Memphis of the G League, where he averaged 10.1 points and 6.2 rebounds in 15 games last season. He started the 2021-22 season with Memphis of the NBA, averaging 1.2 points and 1.1 rebounds in 11 games before his team assigned him to its G League squad.

Pons grew iup with several French teams such as Pays D'Aix ASPTT, Aix-en-Provence and Center Federal du Basket-Ball before travelling to the United States to join the University of Tennessee. He averaged 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 26 NCAA games in the 2020-21 season, his last with Tennessee. Pons has been a member of the French national team in all youth caregories, and helped Les Bleus win a gold medal at the 2014 U16 European Championships. He is set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeaguie debut with ASVEL next season.
