LCLC ASVEL Villeurbanne announced on Thursday that it has signed Alex Tyus for the remainder of the season. The addition comes after center Joffrey Lauvergne was lost to a torn his ACL. Tyus (34 years old, 2.04 meters) played for Pinar Karsiyaka in the Turkish League last season where he averaged 7.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 26 games. ASVEL is the sixth EuroLeague team that Tyus, a 2014 champion with Maccabi Tel Aviv, will represent.

Tyus has played a total of 196 games in the EuroLeague, with his debut in the competition coming back in 2012-13, when he was a member of Cantu. The following two seasons were spent with Maccabi and then in 2015 he made the switch to Anadolu Efes Istanbul. One year later, he moved across Istanbul to join Galatasaray. Tyus returned to Maccabi in 2017 and played the next two campaigns with the team. His only season in the 7DAYS EuroCup came in 2019-20 with UNICS Kazan, as he played a key role in the team reaching the finals and advancing to the EuroLeague. The last time that EuroLeague fans got to see Tyus was with Real Madrid, which he played for in 2020-21.
Across his 196 games in Europe's premier basketball competition, Tyus has averaged 7.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and a PIR of 9.8. He is ranked fifth in competition history with 217 blocks, 16th in career two-point shooting (63.4%) and 19th with 333 career offensive rebounds.
