This will be his ninth season and his eighth club in Europe's premier competition.
ASVEL inks veteran forward Deshaun Thomas
LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne has signed veteran forward Deshaun Thomas for the remainder of the season, the club announced Sunday morning. Thomas (2.01 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Spanish side Joventut Badalona, where he averaged 13.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 11 BKT EuroCup games this season. He is a veteran of eight EuroLeague seasons with seven clubs, including French side JSF Nanterre, with which Thomas made his EuroLeague debut in 2013.
He has also played in the EuroLeague for FC Barcelona, Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Panathinaikos Athens, FC Bayern Munich and last season for EA7 Emporio Armani Milan. Thomas has scored a total of 2,032 points over 219 career EuroLeague games (9.3 ppg.). He is among the top 100 all-time in the EuroLeague in scoring (62nd), three-pointers made (231, 74th), offensive rebounds (226, 72nd) rebounds (638, 95th) and games played (78th).
Thomas has also suited up for the Austin Spurs in the G League (2015-16) and Alvark Tokyo in Japan (2020-21). He helped Maccabi win the Israeli League and Cup double in 2018 before doing the same with Panathinaikos in 2019. The American forward also lifted the French Cup trophy with Nanterre in 2014. Thomas also made it to the NCAA Tournament Final Four with Ohio State University in 2012, where he played alongside his new ASVEL teammate David Lighty during the 2010-11 campaign.
