The star guard avoids surgery but will miss time
Barcelona’s Kevin Punter sidelined by shoulder injury

FC Barcelona announced on Saturday that its top scorer Kevin Punter will miss at least three weeks due to a shoulder injury.
Punter, who previously had a problem with tendinitis in his left shoulder, had the injury worsen in the quarterfinal of the Spanish Cup.
The 31-year-old left the game against Tenerife in the third quarter and never returned. On Saturday, the club's medical team confirmed what the player and the club feared – he will be forced to miss time.
However, Punter “will perform a conservative treatment and the approximate downtime is three weeks,” the club announced.
Punter, a starter in all 26 games this season, leads Barcelona with 16.5 points per game and also averages 3.2 assists and 2.2 rebounds. Punter is second on the team in minutes, playing 26:42 per game.
Ahead of the last eight regular-season rounds, Barcelona sits in the ninth place in the standings with a 14-12 record. It’s next game is El Clásico at Real Madrid, followed by a road test at ALBA Berlin, and Punter seems set to miss both of those games.
