Barcelona holds off Paris, 79-90

FC Barcelona got back to winning ways, controlling things for the majority of the night in the French capital and downing Paris Basketball 79-90 on Friday. Barcelona snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 10-9 on the season, while Paris lost its fourth straight game and now holds an 11-7 record, but holds the tiebreaker against Barcelona due to its 16-point win in Round 10.
Barcelona took the lead for good in the first quarter with a 0-8 run and led by as many as 14 points on several occasions in the second half. Paris rallied, but never got closer than 4 points. Willy Hernangomez starred with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Chimezie Metu had 13 points, Tomas Satoransky and Kevin Punter netted 12 apiece, while Jabari Parker scored 11 in the victory. TJ Shorts led Paris with 20 points, Maodo Lo scored 18, Nadir Hifi had 14 and Tyson Ward 13 points in defeat.

Shorts scored 7 points, including a triple, to make it 9-6, but Barcelona had success going inside, first with Youssoupha Fall, then Hernangomez, who scored 5 points in a 0-8 run that put the visitors up 13-20. Ward ended a scoring drought for Paris, but Juan Nunez hit a three-pointer and Barcelona held a 19-25 lead after 10 minutes.
A three-pointer from Dario Brizuela opened a 21-30 margin before Lo had a pair of layups, and a Hifi fast-break layup got Paris within 28-32. After Punter had a three-point play, Ward nailed a triple for the hosts. Hernangomez and Satoransky kept Barcelona ahead, but Yakuba Ouattara beat the halftime buzzer with a triple to make it 36-40 at the break.
Parker opened the third quarter with a three-pointer, then Punter hit one as well to open Barcelona's first double-digit lead, 38-48. Ward and Shorts made driving baskets, but Hernangomez had 6 points, including a dunk, helping the visitors to 42-56. Paris had an answer with back-to-back threes from Hifi and Bandja Sy, but Satoransky answered with a triple to restore a double-digit margin. Hernangomez scored another basket from close range, and Satoransky from long range, 50-64, but Lo's three-point play helped the hosts cut it to 55-65 after 30 minutes.
Metu scored 6 points, with Parker's jumper in between them, to open a 59-73 margin, but Paris answered with a 9-0 run, started with an easy layup from Kevarrius Hayes, and capped with a triple from Hifi that got the hots within 68-73. Metu had a three-point play, but Hifi was getting to the free throw line to keep the margin at 4 points, before Alex Abrines and Lo traded triples to make it 77-81. However, Hernangomez fought his way for more points on Barcelona's next two possessions, which also sparked a 0-9 run capped by Hernangomez and Punter, that sealed the deal.
