FC Barcelona announced on Friday it extended contract with center James Nnaji until the end of 2026-27 season. Nnaji (2.12 meters, 18 years old) already was signed until 2024, and now extended his contract for another three years. Nnaji made his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut last season, and had 13 appearances, including a pair of starts in helping Barcelona reach the 2022 Final Four. In limited action he averaged 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds, but had highs of 7 rebounds in just 9 minutes against Olympiacos Piraeus, and 8 points in 14 minutes against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv.

Nnaji also had 11 appearances in Spanish League, and played 18 games with Barca 2 team in the Spanish fourth division last season. Nigerian-born big man arrived to Barcelona in 2020, after spending a season with Pecsi in Hungary. Before making his professional debut, he played with U18 Barcelona in Adidas Next Generation Tournament, helping it reach championship game at the 2021 ANGT Finals, while being named to the All-Tournament team.
