EA7 Emporio Armani Milan came back from a 15-point first-quarter deficit to beat LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne 62-69 in a season opener. Milan overcame a slow start thanks to its defense, but also an offensive performance from sharpshooter Billy Baron.
"Billy [Baron] hit big shots," Coach Ettore Messina stated right after the game. Baron was a perfect 4-for-4 of three-point shots and made them when Milan needed them most.
Of his team-high 18 points, 12 came in the second quarter during which he fueled Milan's comeback, racing from being down by double digits to just 44-41 at halftime. Baron was going 3-of-3 on twos and 2-of-2 behind the arc in that quarter.
