FC Bayern Munich strengthened its frontcourt by inking center Freddie Gillespie to a two-year deal, the club announced Monday. Gillespie (2.03 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Memphis of the G League, where he averaged 9.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 34 games. He also played for Orlando of the NBA in the 2021-22 campaign, averaging 2.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 9 games.

Gillespie finished his college career at Baylor University, averaging 9.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 29 games in the 2019-20 campaign. He started his career with Toronto of the NBA and soon joined Memphis, averaging 10.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 15 G League games in the 2020-21 season. Gillespie is set to make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with Bayern in the 2022-23 season.
