Luka Doncic: 'I watch more EuroLeague than NBA'

On Saturday night, Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks Slovenian point guard, turned in another monster game with a triple-double in a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. As the NBA’s scoring leader, Doncic is naturally one of the favorites in the race for the NBA’s MVP Trophy.

When asked after the game if he is keeping tabs on the other leading candidates for that award, he gave an answer that the reporters in the room were not expecting: “Not really. I watch some NBA games, but I watch more EuroLeague than NBA. But if it is a really good NBA game on TV, I will watch it.”

The answer shouldn’t be much of a surprise to fans on the Old Continent. Fans of social media are used to seeing Doncic comment on his boyhood team, Real Madrid, and interacting with his former teammates. Likewise, Doncic also follows the exploits of his Slovenian national team mates, many of whom play for clubs in the EuroLeague the 7DAYS EuroCup.

Now, however, the masses in the United States know as well that for one of the best players in the NBA, the best basketball to watch is in the EuroLeague.
