Dubljevic and Ferrando give Valencia silver linings

Valencia Basket suffered a tough loss, 97-92, at FC Bayern Munich on Thursday night, but there were still a couple of silver linings on the Spanish club’s cloud.
Firstly, team leader Bojan Dubljevic maintained his superb form. After scoring 23 points to earn the MVP of Round 13 award in Tuesday’s win over Panathinaikos Athens, the versatile big man was even better in Bavaria as he scored 28 points on 4-of-6 two-point shooting, 5-of-6 for three and 5-of-6 from the foul line.
Dubljevic has long been established as Valencia’s key player, but a new star is also emerging as teenage guard Guillem Ferrando scored his first-ever point in the competition. Injuries to a trio of experienced backcourt players – Sam Van Rossom, Martin Hermannsson and Chris Jones – have thrust Ferrando into action in recent weeks, making his third consecutive appearance in Munich.
Ferrando spent 8 minutes on the floor and dished 3 assists, also splitting his attempts on a trip to the foul line for his first EuroLeague score. And although he didn’t feature in the second half, Coach Alex Mumbru is gradually giving Ferrando more playing time and he is responding by looking increasingly comfortable at this level.
