Facu Campazzo leads Real Madrid in win over ALBA, 98-84
Real Madrid returned to winning ways by rallying from a double-digit deficit to beat ALBA Berlin 98-84 in the Spanish capital in Round 11 on Thursday. Real improved to 5-6 in the standings while ALBA dropped to 2-9.
Xavier Rathan-Mayes led the winners with 16 points. Serge Ibaka added 15, Dzanan Musa had 13, Facu Campazzo chipped in with 12, Mario Hezonja netted 11 and Walter Tavares scored 10. Campazzo also had 10 assists for a double-double. Gabriele Procida paced ALBA with 18 points. Jonas Mattisseck added 11 while Ziga Samar, Yanni Wetzell and Malte Delow each had 10 for the guests.

Hezonja got Real going with a corner three-pointer. Delow scored around the basket and Procida struck from downtown to tie it at 5-5. Rathan-Mayes answered from beyond the arc and matched Wetzell's reverse layup from the foul line. Tim Schneider scored down low and Matteo Spagnolo dunked to give ALBA its first lead, 10-11. Procida sank his second triple and Spagnolo erased Hezonja's alley-oop slam with a wild 360-degree layup. Tavares rescued Real with a three-point play, getting help from Hezonja and Ibaka in a 12-0 run that gave Los Blancos a 22-16 lead. Mattisseck made consecutive three-pointers to bring ALBA within 23-22 after 10 minutes.
Wetzell followed a dunk with a fast-break layup and Delow capped a 1-12 ALBA run with a tip-in. Elias Rapieque sank a corner triple, Sergio Llull answered with a driving layup and Delow's floater made Real call a timeout at 26-34. Schneider hit a corner triple, then Alberto Abalde struck twice from beyond the arc for a 32-37 score. Hezonja dunked, Campazzo took over with a circus shot and Ibaka followed a layup-plus-foul with a dunk to complete Real's comeback, 42-41. Procida hit a couple of jumpers, Abalde buried his third triple and Campazzo restored a 47-45 Real lead. Samar buried back-to-back triples but Ibaka and Rathan-Mayes kept Real in charge, 53-51. Samar scored around the basket and Mattisseck made ALBA regain a 53-55 lead. Gabriel Deck's driving layup fixed the halftime score at 55-55.
Rathan-Mayes buried a three-pointer right after the break and improved Procida's mid-range jumper with another bomb from downtown. Trevion Williams scored around the basket, Tavares dunked and Campazzo's three-pointer boosted his team's lead to 66-59. Rathan-Mayes and Campazzo each scored off a steal to make ALBA call a timeout at 70-59. Deck buried his trademark catch-and-shoot corner triple, Delow banked in a floater in the lane and Hezonja's backdoor layup broke the game open, 76-61. Mattisseck nailed his third three-pointer and Delow added a fast-break layup. Wetzell and Ibaka exchanged baskets for a 79-68 score after 30 minutes.
Musa took over with a fast-break layup early in the fourth quarter. Ibaka followed that with a tip-in and Musa splashed an eight-meter bomb that made it a 17-point game, 86-69, with over 7 minutes remaining. Procida tried to change things with a fast-break layup, Musa insisted from beyond the arc and Samar's layup kept ALBA within 89-73. Ibaka kept pacing Real, Schneider buried a three-pointer and Andres Feliz found his first point for a 92-78 score with over 4 minutes left. Amon Doerries and Musa each scored in penetration and Tavares soon sealed the outcome, 98-81, with 2 minutes remaining.
