Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul has signed Latvian playmaker Arturs Zagars to a three-year contract, the club announced on Monday. Zagars (1.90 meters, 23 years old) will play the first season of that contract on loan at Wolves Vilnius.
Making a name at the FIBA World Cup
He comes off an outstanding summer on the Latvian national team, which Zagars helped to a fifth-place finish at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. He averaged 12.4 points on 41.7% three-point shooting and 7.4 assists over eight games. Zagars was named to the All-World Cup Second Team after he ranked fifth in assists and set a World Cup record with 17 assists – and 0 turnovers – in his final game against Lithuania.
