James Webb guided undermanned Valencia past Efes

Several players had stepped up in the first three quarters of Valencia Basket's 81-71 win against Anadolu Efes Istanbul on Wednesday night, including Bojan Dubljevic, Josep Puerto and Klemen Prepelic, but the player who saw the Spanish team over the finishing line in the fourth quarter was James Webb.
The 29-year-old, who is enjoying his first season in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, entered the fourth quarter with zero points for the game, yet he scored 14 of Valencia's 29 points in the last 10 minutes to ensure that his team was on the winning side.
Valencia came into the game without Chris Jones, Victor Claver, Jared Harper and Jasiel Rivero, all of whom had joined Martin Hermannsson and Sam Van Rossom on the injury table, so it was of vital importance that a number of players came to the fore. Webb seemed to be having a night to forget, but he turned that all around in the fourth.
In fact, Efes entered the last period ahead 52-56, but Webb's triple to make it 60-60 with 7:49 left seemed to light a spark under the Valencia forward. He went on to make another 2 shots behind the arc and 1 from two-point range, in addition to going 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.
At a time when the Valencia players were beginning to show a bit of tiredness, Webb's emergence meant that the fans inside La Fonteta were able to first witness a comeback and then see out a big win, which saw the hosts secure the season sweep against the back-to-back reigning EuroLeague champion.
Webb and his Valencia teammates will remember this night, when all the odds were stacked against them, for a long time. But, in two nights' time, they will have to get ready for another test, this time on the road at LCLC ASVEL Villeurbanne.
