He put pen to paper on a new contract in the middle of last season
Jerian Grant renews at Panathinaikos until 2026
Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens has confirmed that guard Jerian Grant signed a contract extension in the middle of last season that will keep him at OAKA until the end of the 2025-26 season. The announcement was made this Wednesday afternoon.
Grant (1.96 meters, 31 years old) joined the Greens last summer and was a key piece in the club winning its seventh Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title — its first in 13 years.
The American guard played all 41 EuroLeague games for Panathinaikos last season, averaging 8.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals. His play on the defensive end saw him establish himself as one of the EuroLeague's best players on that side of the floor.
Grant really stepped his game up at the Final Four, too, by boosting his averages to 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals as Panathinaikos defeated Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in the semifinal and Real Madrid in the championship game.
By making it to the title decider with Panathinaikos, Grant reached back-to-back continental finals after leading Turk Telekom Ankara to the BKT EuroCup Final in 2022-23. He was named as the EuroCup MVP for his efforts, having averaged 14.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.3 steals, but his Turk Telekom side came up short to Dreamland Gran Canaria.
Last year was Grant's second season in the EuroLeague, as he first appeared in the competition in the 2021-22 campaign with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan. In a limited role, he posted 2.8 points per night across 26 appearances.
Grant's play in a Panathinaikos jersey saw him quickly become a fans' favorite at OAKA, and he'll be hoping to bring even more success to the club in the next couple of years.
