One of Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv's key off-season additions, big man Alex Poythress, will be lost to the team for at least four months due to a hand injury, the club announced on Monday.
Poythress is due to undergo surgery on his hand and his recovery time is estimated between four and six months. He was averaging 8.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and a PIR of 8.0, starting all of Maccabi's 11 games until now.
Poythress had a season-high 16 points against Partizan NIS Belgrade in Round 8. In his last game, a road loss against FC Bayern Munich last week, Poythress had 8 points, 2 blocks and a PIR of 9.
This is third Turkish Airlines EuroLeague campaign after two seasons with Zenit St Petersburg. Altogether, he has posted 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in just over 20 minutes per game in 66 EuroLeague appearances to date as a regular on the highlight reels with his spectacular dunks and blocks.
