The Cuban center is expected to miss two to three weeks
Maccabi’s Jasiel Rivero out with torn hamstring
Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv announced on Saturday that center Jasiel Rivero is expected to miss the next two to three weeks with a partially torn hamstring.
The 31-year-old big man suffered the injury late in his team’s loss at Virtus Segafredo Bologna on Friday and the tear was confirmed after an MRI on Saturday. Rivero will be reexamined this weekend.
Rivero, who hails from Cuba, is in his third EuroLeague season and second with Maccabi. He has averaged a career-high 11.4 points on 65.5% two-point shooting and 5.8 rebounds for a PIR of 16.2 this season. This marks the latest injury setback for the Israeli champs, who for the first time had both of their centers available on Friday. Wenyen Gabriel had missed the team’s first seven games with a knee injury.
