Two versatile young forwards meet again, this time at the Astroballe, where William Howard of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne and Oscar da Silva of ALBA Berlin are set to face each other.
Major matchup: Howard, ASVEL vs. da Silva, ALBA
Howard missed his team's last eight times due to injury but returned to action in the French League this weekend. He ranks second in the EuroLeague in three-point shooting percentage at 48.6%. Howard averaged 7.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals and a PIR of 8.6 before the injury. He helped ASVEL beat ALBA 67-71 in Round 2 in the German capital with 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and a PIR of 9. Howard should use his deep range and mobility in his matchup, helping ASVEL to spread the floor.
Da Silva had a really good performance against ASVEL in Round 2, finishing that game with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assist, 3 steals and a PIR of 19. It was his first-ever game in the competition, too. In his first EuroLeague season, da Silva is averaging 8.9 points on 62.1% two-point shooting, 2.9 rebounds, 0.7 blocks and a PIR of 9.4 in less than 19 minutes per night. He should use his physicality, energy and overall athleticism against Howard, attacking him in the low post, where da Silva is more effective.
