Mantas Rubstavicius signs long-term deal with Zalgiris
Zalgiris Kaunas has announced the signing of promising guard Mantas Rubstavicius to a long-term deal of which he will spend the first season on loan at BKT EuroCup side 7bet-Lietkabelis Panevezys. Rubstavicius (1.98 meters, 22 years old) has previous experience at both clubs and comes off a season in the Australian National Basketball League with the New Zealnd Breakers. He averaged 9.4 points on 43.3% three-point shooting and 61.1% two-point shooting plus 2.1 rebounds in 25 NBL games last season.
Rubstavicius began his professional career in Lietkabelis before joining Zalgiris as a 17-year-old in 2019. He spent three seasons there, playing for the club’s junior team, B team and senior team and made his EuroLeague debut in April 2021. Rubstavicius returned to Lietkabelis for the 2022-23 season before moving to New Zealand last season. He has also played for the Lithuanian national team at the junior levels and helped it win the silver medal at the 2022 European U20 Championship.
