The two guards made several clutch, game-deciding baskets last season
Markus Howard, Iffe Lundberg ready to battle in Round 1 shootout
The opening round of the 2024-25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season is jam-packed with must-watch games featuring a plethora of top players, but one of the most exciting matchups takes place in Vitoria-Gasteiz as Baskonia welcomes Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade.
Among the many stars in that clash are two of last season's most clutch players, Baskonia's Markus Howard and Partizan's Iffe Lundberg.
Howard was last season's EuroLeague Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy winner, an award he will receive ahead of tipoff on Thursday night, having set the all-time single-season records for points scored (759) and three-pointers made (148). Lundberg averaged 9.4 points last season but, just like Howard, he often had the ball in his hands when it mattered most.
Whether it was a shot to win the game, send it to overtime, or just scoring a tough bucket in a key situation, the two guards repeatedly stepped up in clutch situations in 2023-24. On Thursday, they will have a chance to come to the fore once again.
