When Zalgiris Kaunas hosts AX Armani Exchange Milan on Tuesday in a makeup game from Round 17, the team’s veteran point guards will have major roles.
Major matchup: Lekavicius, Zalgiris vs. Delaney, Milan
Lukas Lekavicius has averaged 9.0 points and 3.5 assists for a PIR of 8.5 so far this season. He has hit his groove recently with 14.3 points on 7-for-14 three-point shooting, 5.3 assists and 1.3 steals for an average PIR of 16.0 over his last three games. Now in his eighth EuroLeague campaign – and sixth with Zalgiris, Lekavicius has fine-tuned an array of skills, from savvy playmaking, to his dangerous floater and excellent three-point shooting, which all can create headaches for opposing backcourt on any given night.

Malcolm Delaney has been worth 9.8 points and 2.5 assists this season for Milan. Those numbers are career-lows, but the dangerous combo-guard fought through some injuries and may be ready to go on a hot streak. His best two games have been his last two with 18 points and Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade and 11 points and 5 assists against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul in the two-round week. He made 6 of 11 three-pointers in those two games and drew 10 fouls. If Delaney is back in top form, Milan will have its top option ready and able to take over games, which sets up an interesting clash against Lekavicius.
