The matchup between ALBA Berlin point guard Tamir Blatt and his Zenit St Petersburg counterpart Jordan Loyd is one to watch this week.
Major matchup: Blatt, ALBA vs. Loyd, Zenit
ALBA relies on its playmakers to make things happen in general and in particular for its Round 26 showdown against Zenit St Petersburg. Blatt will be called on to put on-the-ball pressure on Loyd while organizing his team's offense at the other end. A EuroLeague newcomer, Blatt is perfect from the foul line this season (100%) and has dished 3.4 assists per game despite playing fewer than 15 minutes on average. He has also committed just 1.5 turnovers per game. Zenit is short-handed at the playmaker position and that should give Blatt an advantage in this game.

Blatt will not have it easy on defense against Loyd, Zenit's top scorer with 13.5 points per night. Loyd had one of his best games this season against ALBA in Round 10 with season-highs of 25 points and a PIR of 33 while leading Zenit to a 75-66 victory. Loyd buried 7 of 11 two-pointers, 3 of 6 three-pointers and added 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and 1 block, filling his stat line in many different ways. Loyd has been on fire lately, too, averaging 18.5 points and a PIR of 22.0 in his team's last two games. How well he does against Blatt and ALBA will play a critical role in this game.
