Two point guards with very different styles, yet huge roles on their teams, will duel when Thomas Heurtel of Real Madrid and Chris Jones of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne take the floor.
Major matchup: Heurtel, Real vs. Jones, ASVEL
Heurtel is not just one of the best assist men in the league this season, but of all time. He is averaging 8.9 points and 4.8 assists in less than 20 minutes per game so far this season. Heurtel is sixth in assists this season, second in career average with 5.3 per game and fourth all-time in accumulated assists (1,326). With all the weapons around him, Heurtel is the key to making the Real attack move and he will have a major role for the team this week.

Jones is a combo-guard who is ASVEL’s go-to scorer with Elie Okobo out, but also leads the team in assists with 3.7 per game. He’s averaged 13.5 points on 37.1% three-point shooting and 1.5 steals per game, too. ASVEL will lean on Jones to play a big role on both ends, matchup up against Heurtel and leading the offense, to give his team a chance to triumph in Madrid for the first time since 2003.
