Mbaye Ndiaye out for 'several months' with knee injury
LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne announced on Monday night that big man Mbaye Ndiaye has ruptured the cruciate ligaments in his right knee and is set for an extended spell on the sidelines.
Ndiaye, who has averaged 7.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 14 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games for ASVEL this season, will undergo surgery to address the injury, which came during the team's Round 16 win at Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade on December 17.
"The news we feared has unfortunately officially arrived for Mbaye Ndiaye..." read ASVEL's tweet. "Our Senegalese center has ruptured the cruciate ligaments in his right knee. He will undergo surgery tomorrow morning and be out of action for several months.
"Be strong Mbeasy, the whole club is with you and wishes you the best in your recovery!"
The 25-year-old is in his second season at ASVEL and second in the EuroLeague. He previously played for fellow French teams Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse (2017-20) and ADA Blois (2020-23).
