Milan inks Freddie Gillespie to fortify frontline
EA7 Emporio Armani Milan has signed Freddie Gillespie to help address the injury to star big man Josh Nebo.
Gillespie (2.06 meters, 27 years old) has two seasons of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague experience under his belt with FC Bayern Munich and Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade. He averaged 3.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in EuroLeague 62 games – including 29 as a starter.
With the New Zealand Breakers this season, he posted 6.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in nine games.
Gillespie played college basketball at Carleton College and Baylor University and started his professional career with the Toronto Raptors in the NBA. He soon joined the Memphis Hustle in the G League. Gillespie has also played for the Orlando Magic in the NBA. His trophy case includes helping Zvezda win the Serbian League and Cup and the ABA League championship last season and winning the German Cup with Bayern in 2023.
