Milan re-signs guard Stefano Tonut
EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and guard Stefano Tonut will remain together for another two seasons, the club announced. Tonut (1.94 meters, 30 years old) spent the past two seasons with Milan. He averaged 5.8 points on 49.2% three-point shooting in 29 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season and 7.1 points and 1.6 assists in the Italian League. Tonut also helped Milan win the Italian League championship in both of their seasons together.
Before joining Milan, Tonut had spent seven seasons with Umana Reyer Venice. He helped Reyer reach a new golden age with its first official titles in 74 years. Tonut won Italian League championships with Reyer in 2017 and 2019, lifted the FIBA Europe Cup in 2018 and claimed the Italian Cup in 2020. He was chosen as the 2020-21 Italian League MVP. Tonut, whose father Alberto won a gold medal with Italy at EuroBasket 1983, also played for Monfalcone and Pallacanestro Trieste before joining Reyer in 2015. He has also been a member of the Italian national team, which he helped to a fifth-place finish at the 2020 Olympic Games.
