Makoundou has spent his entire career with Cholet, making his first-team debut in 2019 before going on to play a more prominent role in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. His statistics increased year-on-year during his time at Cholet, so Monaco will hope he can build on those performances at Salle Gaston Medecin. Makoundou also represented France at the 2019 Under-19 Basketball World Cup.
