FC Bayern Munich has confirmed that it will be without Niels Giffey for 'the coming weeks' after he dislocated his finger during a domestic league game last weekend.
As Bayern revealed in a statement, Giffey successfully underwent surgery on Tuesday morning on the affected ring finger of his left hand.
The 33-year-old played 18:36 minutes for Bayern in its Round 1 win at home to Real Madrid, posting 6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block. That 97-89 triumph was the first EuroLeague game to be played at the newly opened SAP Garden.
Giffey is also an important member of the German national team, having helped his nation win the 2023 FIBA World Cup and secure a fourth-placed finish at the 2024 Olympic Games.
