No point guards was no problem for Valencia

Among its many injuries, Valencia Basket was missing its four main playmakers going into its Round 19 visit to LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne.
Chris Jones and Jared Harper, both injured, had led Valencia in assists in 10 games of the first 17. Veterans Sam Van Rossom and Martin Hermannsson have appeared in just six games between them all season.
None of that mattered, though, as the visitors raced ahead early and held on late for a 79-83 victory, their first ever in seven tries at the Astroballe.
Forced into playmaking roles, shooting guard Klemen Prepelic matched his EuroLeague career high in 81 games with 7 assists, while swingman Xabi Lopez-Arostequi eclipsed his personal best in his rookie season with 6.
That duo had 11 between them as Valencia raced to leads as high as 20 points in the first half with 15 assists, tying the club's best effort in any half this season. Many of those passes turned into open three-pointers of which Valencia hit 8 of 16 in the first 20 minutes.
Another combo guard, Jonah Radebaugh chipped in 4 as Valencia dished 22 assists by game's end for the team's third-best total this season. He, Lopez-Arostegui and Prepelic also combined for 37 points.
Going forward now with a 9-10 record, even when its point guards get healthy, Valencia will be that much more dangerous knowing that any number of perimeter players are ready, willing and able to turn into playmakers at a moment's notice.
