Round 15 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague features a French derby and a battle between second and third in another exciting set of games. Here’s your overview of this week’s action.

The hosts can always rely on inspiration from [Nigel Hayes-Davis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nigel-hayes-davis/008962/), who powered the Round 14 win at Real Madrid with 33 points to become the weekly MVP. He will be countered by [Vitto Brown](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/vitto-brown/013365/), who delivered his best performance of the season with 17 points and 7 rebounds in Monaco’s comfortable win over ALBA on Friday. That game again saw Monaco fulfill the ball-sharing philosophy of Coach Vassilis Spanoulis – who this week has his first-ever coaching duel with former teammate Sarunas Jasikevicius – by dishing 23 assists, so Fenerbahce guards [Arturs Zagars](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/arturs-zagars/008104/) and [Wade Baldwin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/wade-baldwin-iv/009863/) will have to work hard defensively to stop the visiting team from establishing its rhythm.

Round 15 Head-to-Head: Guduric vs. Loyd

The German team has young playmaker [Matteo Spagnolo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/matteo-spagnolo/008173/) in strong form with double digits scoring in three straight games, but the Italian faces a tough task against Partizan dynamo [Carlik Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/carlik-jones/013369/), who continued his great form by averaging 18.5 points and 7 assists in last week’s back-to-back home wins over Zalgiris and Panathinaikos. His namesake [Tyrique Jones](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tyrique-jones/011981/) is also in great form in the paint, registering a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) against Panathinaikos, so he’ll be a handful for ALBA’s entertaining big man [Trevion Williams](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/trevion-williams/012604/) – who's averaged 11.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

Two teams aiming for a change in direction meet as inconsistent Baskonia (6-8) welcomes last-placed Virtus (2-12). New Virtus coach Dusko Ivanovic will take charge for the first time on familiar territory against his former club, which has been strong in Vitoria with a 5-2 home record. The Italian team’s latest loss, at home to Zvezda on Friday, came despite another good game from forward [Will Clyburn](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/will-clyburn/004888/), who's averaged 22.3 points and 7.3 rebounds over the last three games. Baskonia also suffered defeat last time out, with a big double-double from [Chima Moneke](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/chima-moneke/012201/) (25 points, 11 boards) not enough to overcome Bayern in Munich. The power of Moneke and [Donta Hall](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/donta-hall/011196/) against Clyburn and [Toko Shengelia](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tornike-shengelia/001133/) could be key in what’s likely to be a physical battle.

[Real Madrid vs. Zalgiris Kaunas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/game-center/2024-25/real-madrid-zalgiris-kaunas/E2024/131/)

Struggling Real (6-8) faces a stern test with a visit from Zalgiris (8-6). A pair of star guards will attempt to outdo each other, with the smooth distribution of [Facu Campazzo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/facundo-campazzo/005928/) (7.9 assists per game) going against the scoring skills of [Lonnie Walker ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/lonnie-walker-iv/013403/)(16.3 points per night on 44.3% three-point shooting), who was reportedly close to joining Real before signing on with Zalgiris. The Spanish team has struggled for production off the bench, so the visitors will have to be ready to compete for the full 40 minutes through the energy of guard [Dovydas Giedraitis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/dovydas-giedraitis/007513/), the only Zalgiris player to have started every game. Denying long-range looks to [Dzanan Musa](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/dzanan-musa/006540/) and [Mario Hezonja](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/mario-hezonja/003108/) will also be key for a Zalgiris defense that has allowed fewer points than any other team (74.9 per game).

High-flying Bayern (9-5) will look to make it eight home wins out of eight with a visit from a Maccabi team (4-10) that has won just once on the road all season. The visiting team will have to find an answer for [Devin Booker](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/devin-booker/007056/), who has been unstoppable recently and averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5 assists over last week’s two games, so the likes of [Levi Randolph](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/levi-randolph/013382/) (11.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game) will need to step up for the visiting team. Maccabi also has to deal with the backcourt threat of league-leading scorer [Carsen Edwards](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/carsen-edwards/011987/) (20.4 points per game) and can try to control the game through pass master [Tamir Blatt](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tamir-blatt/011193/), who tops the EuroLeague in assists with 8.6 per night.

Reigning champ Panathinaikos (8-6) will continue its quest for consistency with a crunch clash against Coach Ergin Ataman and forward [Cedi Osman](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/cedi-osman/004088/)’s former club, Efes (7-7). Both teams lost last time out, with the Greens falling at Partizan while Efes was stifled by Zalgiris. The Greens will try to feed off the energy of center [Mathias Lessort](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/mathias-lessort/003842/), who also showed his distribution skills by dishing a personal best 5 assists in the loss at Partizan, so the Turkish team’s big man [Derek Willis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/derek-willis/009664/) will need to show the rebounding power that saw him grab 8 boards in Kaunas last time out. [Elijah Bryant](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/elijah-bryant/009846/) (13 points per game) has been Efes’s go-to guard during the injury absence of [Shane Larkin](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/shane-larkin/007200/), and he needs a big performance against an extremely deep Panathinaikos backcourt.

Rejuvenated by last week’s much-needed comeback victory at Maccabi, Barcelona (8-6) will try to overcome direct rival and red-hot Milan (8-6) in a key battle between two of the four teams currently tied for sixth place. Former Barca hero [Nikola Mirotic](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nikola-mirotic/000796/), who leads the league in PIR with 23.7 per game, will play a central role on his return to Palau Blaugrana, and the host will try to counter him with the scoring skills of [Jabari Parker](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/jabari-parker/012745/), who paired 18 points and 9 rebounds in the win at Maccabi. That game also saw a return to form by former Milan shooter [Kevin Punter](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/kevin-punter/009862/), netting 18 points on 4-of-6 three-point shooting, who faces a long-range duel with Milan veteran [Fabien Causeur](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/fabien-causeur/001392/), who's averaged 7.7 points on 55.2% three-point shooting.

A meeting of two clubs with a long-standing close relationship will be far from friendly as Zvezda (7-7) welcomes Olympiacos (9-5). The Greek giant ended the double-round week by losing its 100% home record against Paris, whereas Zvezda boosted its playoffs challenge with a strong win at Virtus. Former Olympiacos sniper [Isaiah Canaan](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/isaiah-canaan/010612/) was instrumental to that success with 26 points, but [Filip Petrusev](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/filip-petrusev/011194/) – shining on loan for Zvezda from Olympiacos – cannot suit up for this game. Olympiacos will look to tighten up defensively after allowing 96 points in the loss to Paris, while also hoping that sharpshooter [Evan Fournier](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/evan-fournier/013380/) continues to threaten from long-range after netting multiple triples in nine straight games. The visitors will also hope to gain extra possessions through [Nikola Milutinov](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nikola-milutinov/003941/), who tops the league with 3.9 offensive rebounds per game.

A French derby will see dangerous ASVEL (5-9) receive a visit from league-leading Paris (11-3). Two of this season’s top performers will go head to head in a mouthwatering backcourt duel as [Theo Maledon](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/theo-maledon/007027/) (18.4 points per game) goes up against [TJ Shorts](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tj-shorts/012608/) (18.6 points, 7.9 assists). ASVEL will have confidence after winning three in a row at home, and a key could be whether the home team has success from long-range: ASVEL ranks fifth in the league for three-point conversion (38.1%, led by veteran [David Lighty](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/david-lighty/003526/) with 48.5% of triples made), but Paris has the competition’s third-best perimeter defense (31% of three-pointers allowed). Fantasy tips, Round 15: Bargains galore

Round 15 is upon us, as the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season gets closer and closer to its midway point. There are plenty of opportunities for EuroLeague Fantasy Challenge managers to improve their teams and be more competitive in private leagues and the overall standings. I am here to help with some recommendations. These are five of the players I like this week and why. 

[David McCormack, ALBA Berlin (8.4 credits) ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/david-mccormack/013386/)

All of a sudden, McCormack has become a solid choice at center, seeing a lot of playing time and posting big numbers. Last week, McCormack had 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 steals for a PIR of 24 against Virtus Segafredo Bologna and he followed that up with 16 points, 3 rebounds and a PIR of 15 against AS Monaco. All for just 8.4 credits! 

[Chima Moneke, Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (16.3 credits) ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/chima-moneke/012201/)

Moneke has been his usual self lately, playing with great energy and contributing at both ends of the floor. In his last EuroLeague game, Moneke had 25 points and 11 rebounds for a PIR of 31. He also did great in the Spanish League this weekend with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for a PIR of 34. Completely on fire!

EuroLeague Fantasy tips: Round 14

[Carlik Jones, Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade (15.1 credits) ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/carlik-jones/013369/)

Partizan is currently on a four-game winning streak and Carlik Jones has been right at the center of it, posting big numbers all around. In this run, Jones has averaged 18.3 points on 20-of-21 free-throw shooting, 6.5 assists and 4.8 fouls drawn for a PIR of 24.8. Great consistency is what you look for in fantasy games and Jones gives you that. 

[Justin Anderson, FC Barcelona (8.6 credits) ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/justin-anderson/012795/)

Anderson comes off a really strong double-round week with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists for a PIR of 15 against Panathinaikos and then 16 points and a PIR of 19 against Maccabi. Anderson is seeing more playing time lately and that is making him more comfortable. At 8.6 credits, he has great fantasy value. 

[Joffrey Lauvergne, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne (11.0 credits) ](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/joffrey-lauvergne/004194/)

There are not many solid choices in the center market and most of them are expensive. Lauvergne has had a double-digit PIR in each of his last six games, getting 20 or more a couple of times. At just 11.0 credits, he could be a good choice as your backup center in case your Turn 1 big man does not deliver.

Paris Basketball has won 10 straight games to rise to the top of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings and position themselves to accomplish a truly remarkable feat. 

Stats review: A dive into Paris's win streak and defense

Paris Basketball has won 10 straight games to rise to the top of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague standings and position themselves to accomplish a truly remarkable feat. 

The EuroLeague has an interesting relationship with winning streaks, but the tipping point into *special* territory is 11 games. Sixteen teams in league history have won 11 or more games in a row with Real Madrid narrowly missing becoming the 17th with their run to start last year.  Only four of those teams went on their runs in the nine seasons since the EuroLeague transitioned to its modern format.  With parity continuing to rise in recent years, the windows of opportunity for a team to string together double-digit wins is extremely small.

At this point, it is a massive achievement to rattle off a run like Paris’s.  However, what it means in the long run remains pretty nebulous.  Only three teams to go on a winning streak or 11 or more games have gone on to lift the trophy at the end of the season and the last team to do both did so all the way back in the 2009-10 season.  Even when three teams achieved long winning streaks during the 2013-14 season, that group did not produce a champion.  Winning streaks have, in recent history in particular, guaranteed little postseason success, though we’ll never know if a dominant Anadolu Efes team or Real Madrid would have paid off their streaks during the abridged 2019-20 season.

Even if Paris still has as grueling a path forward as any of their predecessors, they deserve a massive amount of credit for continuing to find ways to win.  At this point, it takes some good bounces to keep a streak alive; Paris has won all three of its one-possession games after dropping their first two early in the year, but Tiago Splitter’s team has made real progress to set their current course.

A big chunk of that progress can be traced to one specific area: their suddenly stifling pick-and-roll defense. For reference, the average EuroLeague possession has been worth 1.01 points per possession this season - on par with the record highs from a few seasons ago.  The average possession created out of a pick-and-roll is worth 1.00 points per possession this year - unsurprisingly similar with just under 40% of all possessions originating in ball screens. Over the first four games of the season, Paris allowed 1.08 points per possession created out of a pick-and-roll, the equivalent of ranking 17th in the league at the moment.  Since then, they have allowed just 0.90 points per pick-and-roll possession, surging up the leaderboards to close in on Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul which has conceded a league-best 0.92 points per possession on the year overall. 

Nearly going from worst to first in a critical aspect of the game, there’s obviously more at work in the improvement than one single adjustment.  Not only has Paris been more disciplined on the ball, done a better job pushing ball handlers inside the arc, shown more of a sense of urgency in rotation, and better game plans for opposing roll men, but opposing offenses have also made only 34% of the catch-and-shoot threes they have created out of the two-man game against them over their 10 wins compared to 45% over their first four games.

It will be fascinating to see if Paris can sustain its newfound defensive prowess through the regular season.  While there is bound to be some regression to the mean in the second half as opposing teams learn from their initial matchups, this team’s ability to find a way through has been perhaps the biggest story of the season so far - made all the more impressive given they are facing the unforgiving gauntlet of the EuroLeague for the first time.

The EuroLeague newcomers are already in rare company with 10 straight wins

For anyone carrying any doubt of what Paris Basketball is capable of, any and all of those doubts should have perished with its impressive 90-96 win over Olympiacos Piraeus on Friday night.

Doubt no more, Paris and Shorts are playing (like) giants

It may not scientifically proven, but it certainly seem it's second nature to human beings to doubt things that are new. This is true in all aspects of life and basketball is no different.

So, while [Paris Basketball](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/paris-basketball/prs/), a newcomer to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, has gone on an impressive winning streak in recent weeks, it's has not been all that surprising that there have been doubters who waited for the EuroLeague debutant from the French capital to hit a wall.

The winning streak reached nine games on Tuesday, but the place, for many, where Paris would get a long-time-coming really check was supposed to be its Round 14 road game against perennial powerhouse and title contender [Olympiacos Piraeus](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/olympiacos-piraeus/oly/).

But for anyone carrying any doubt of what Paris is capable of, and how far it can go, any and all of those doubts should have perished with [Paris's impressive 90-96 triumph](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/paris-stuns-olympiacos-in-a-thriller-for-10th-straight-win/) in Greece.

In a fantastic game, which is what losing coach [Georgios Bartzokas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/olympiacos-piraeus/oly/bartzokas-georgios/) called it, Paris went into a sold out Peace and Friendship Stadium and proved beyond any doubt that this team is deservedly sitting atop the standings.

What's more, if this was a 'prove it' game for Paris, the team aced the test and even managed to do so twice during a 40-minute encounter.

### "Competing like there is no tomorrow"

First, Paris did so by totally outplaying the home favorites and building a 60-80 lead with 7 minutes to go. Then, it went on to prove it in an even tougher way when Olympiacos answered with an astonishing 22-0 run to take a lead with just over 3 minutes left to play.

With the home team charging in a memorable way, their backs suddenly against the wall and odds rapidly growing against them, Paris showed what this team is made of by stopping the bleeding when it was least expected. [Nadir Hifi](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nadir-hifi/012640/), [TJ Shorts](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tj-shorts/012608/) and then eventually [Maodo Lo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/maodo-lo/007032/) each knocked down a three-pointer and Paris got out of the hole and escaped with a win, the team's 10th straight.

"I am proud of these guys, of everything", first-year coach [Tiago Splitter](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/paris-basketball/prs/splitter-tiago/) said in the press conference following the big win. "No one gave us nothing in the beginning. Since I got to this group, I felt like they are different. This is a special group. Not just the players individually, but the group. It is really an awesome group to coach. I am lucky.

"It is special", Splitter continued, "The team is playing awesome. They are staying together, they are humble and they have no egos. They compete every night like there is no tomorrow and I am proud of them."

### "We approach every single game like it is our last"

When one watches Paris, the first thing that catches everyone's eye is the speed at which this team plays basketball.

"This is what we do. We play fast. Sometimes we shoot a little early, sometimes we shoot some crazy shots that people are not used to. But it is all part of the plan", Splitter explained.

So, it is not all that surprising that its style of play has helped Paris rank third in the EuroLeague in scoring with 86.5 points per game, second in average three-point shots attempted (29.8 3FGA) and fourth in three-pointers made (10.4 3FGM).

What is impressive, however, is that despite such a style, Paris has committed only 10.9 turnovers per game. Meanwhile, the Paris defense has forced 13.1 turnovers and held its opposition to just 31.0% three-point shooting; both marks are the third-lowest in the league.

"We approach every single game like it is our last", swingman [Tyson Ward](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/tyson-ward/012610/) said to EuroLeague TV after the win in Piraeus. "I think you can tell that by the way we play."

The leader of this pack is Shorts, the recently crowned [November MVP](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/paris-star-tj-shorts-selected-as-mvp-for-november/). Standing at only 1.75 meters, Shorts ranks third in average index rating (22.4), third in scoring (18.6 ppg.) and third in assists (7.9 apg.).

"He is a giant. Forget about his height, he is a giant. He's the leader of this team, he get's everybody going and he is not afraid. A helluva player," Splitter gushed of his point guard.

Ward did not hold back in his praise, either.

"He is easy, he makes our lives easier," Ward said. "What he does is truly gifted. He brings it every single night. It is a testament to his work and his confidence in himself. And he believes in us as well. When you have somebody like that who leads your team and does not waver in certain situations, makes it a lot easier on you."

### 'If we look ahead, we are gonna be fools'

Sitting alone atop of the standings, sporting a 10-game winning streak, and after a victory like this one, Paris has certainly moved into the title contender conversation, a rare feat for a EuroLeague debutant.

"From the beginning everybody was asking us what was our goals. I am going to keep saying the same thing. We got one game in front of us, if we look ahead, we are gonna be fools", Splitter said.

In addition, Splitter is aware that keeping up the style of play is already becoming a challenge:

"It's harder. Everybody is figuring it out, the way we play it is not a surprise anymore", he admitted. "But I am still pushing every day in practice."

What the EuroLeague certainly does not allow is for a team to sit and enjoy its past success, because the next game is always just a few days away. And in the case of Paris, it's another road test, and this time an all-French derby against LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in this week's Rivalry Series game.

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will have to make do without the services of center [Jasiel Rivero](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/jasiel-rivero/011214/) for the next four-to-six weeks after he suffered a torn hamstring, the club announced Sunday. Rivero, 31, missed three games earlier this season with a partially torn hamstring.

The native of Cuba has averaged 10.6 points and 5.1 rebounds for a PIR of 14.6 in 11 games for Maccabi this season, his second with the club and third in the EuroLeague. His PIR is sixth in the league among centers.

As Fenerbahce Beko secured an impressive road win at Real Madrid in Round 14's Rivalry Series game, Nigel Hayes-Davis scored a season-high 33 points to get his team back on track after back-to-back losses.

Nigel Hayes-Davis drew inspiration from Kobe Bryant to down Real Madrid

Towards the end of the first quarter of [Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/fenerbahce-beko-istanbul/ulk/)’s Rivalries Series trip to [Real Madrid](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/teams/real-madrid/mad/) on Thursday night, it looked as though the Turkish team was heading for its second loss of the week in Spain.

A three-point strike from [Sergio Llull](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/sergio-llull/tgb/) had given the Spanish team a double-digit lead, 20-10, with Fenerbahce having scored just four baskets in the opening nine minutes. After suffering a dispiriting [88-76 loss at Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/baskonia-beats-fenerbahce-88-76-for-second-straight-win/) two days earlier, Saras Jasikevicius’s players might have been forgiven for wishing the time away for their flight back to Turkiye.

But the mentality of this team does not allow them to simply roll over and accept a third consecutive defeat, and Fenerbahce found a way to fight back to claim a valuable and ultimately comfortable [70-82 victory](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/news/fenerbahce-blasts-past-real-70-82/).

The catalyst, inevitably, was [Nigel Hayes-Davis](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/nigel-hayes-davis/008962/), who was a constant threat throughout the game. The forward started off by scoring his team’s first three field goals of the night at a time when no other visiting player could make a basket, later netted a three-pointer to give his team its first lead (20-23), then struck another triple for Fenerbahce’s first double-digit margin (41-52) and finished off by sinking his sixth threeball on the final buzzer for a total of 33 points – more than three times the amount scored by any other visiting player.

After the game, Hayes-Davis revealed that he found unlikely inspiration to bounce back from quiet games in losses against EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, when he respectively scored just 6 and 11 points.

"I just watched a video," he told EuroLeague TV. "Kobe \[Bryant\] was giving an interview and they asked him, 'It looks like you’ve hit a wall.' He was like, 'I don’t think so, but if I did, then I’ll just run though the wall.'

"I watched that right before I walked on the court, so that’s the mentality I went in there with. Being aggressive, because I learned a valuable lesson: I tried to let the game come to me against Milan and [Niko \[Mirotic\]](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/nikola-mirotic/000796/) embarrassed me, and then I tried to do the same thing in Baskonia and we got embarrassed as a team. So I wanted to show today that I learned from those lessons."

That intent to play with more aggression was replicated throughout the Fenerbahce team, which had faced criticism from Coach Jasikevicius following the loss at Baskonia two days earlier.

"You really shouldn’t have to tell us \[to play harder\]," insisted Hayes-Davis. "We make great money to play a little bit harder, give a little bit more. It’s more of an effort thing. Once we play with great effort, great intensity, we put ourselves in the game.

"It’s up to us to try to go out there and execute. If the ball goes in, great. But if not, we can rely on rebounding and hustle plays that don’t require talent, just effort."

Jasikevicius echoed that sentiment, admitting that he was very happy with the effort of his players against Real: "This is how we have to win right now. We’ve got to take down our turnover numbers, and we’ve got to fight, especially rebounds. \[We were\] plus eight in these departments; eight possessions more.

"I thought our point guard play was extremely solid, we were going with the ball the majority of the time wherever we wanted, we were fighting, and this is the only thing that we can ask for at this point. Super-solid. We kept our heads in the game, we played exactly what we wanted. Not exactly brilliant, but it’s not easy to be brilliant against Madrid."

'Brilliant' was the perfect word for Nigel Hayes-Davis, and everyone else supported his efforts by doing more than enough to get Fenerbahce back into winning ways.
