Real Madrid exacted revenge by overcoming Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, 90-86, in a hard-fought repeat of last season’s Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Game. Both teams now have a 2-2 record, with the reigning champs losing twice this week.

Chus Mateo’s Real took a double-digit lead in less than four minutes, but Panathinaikos gradually battled back and it was 43-38 at halftime. *Los Blancos* pulled away again after the break, and held on in the final minutes. Facu Campazzo took charge for the winning team with 19 points and 6 assists, while Dzanan Musa added 15 points and Alberto Abalde scored 13. Kendrick Nunn paced Panathinaikos with 23 points, with Juancho Hernangomez hitting 4 triples on his way to 16 points, Cedi Osman scoring 13 and Ioannis Papapetrou adding 12.

The action started with Real racing ahead, 8-0, with a jumper from Eli Ndiaye plus triples from Musa and Abalde. Osman’s threeball got the Greens moving, but Ndiaye and Musa also struck from deep for a 14-3 lead. Campazzo netted 5 points in a row before Nunn’s layup and a Hernangomez triple made it closer, 19-10. Papapetrou netted twice and Hernangomez added another threeball, but Campazzo answered from deep for a 28-19 lead after 10 minutes.

Xavier Rathan-Mayes opened the second-quarter scoring with a layup, answered by Omer Yurtseven at the other end. Campazzo’s layup was bettered by Kostas Sloukas’ threeball in a slow scoring passage of play. Mathias Lessort scored his first bucket to make it 32-26, but Sergio Llull answered from deep. Papapetrou and Gaby Deck traded triples, before Hernangomez struck his third triple to pull it back to 40-34. Mario Hezonja and Nunn exchanged two-pointers, making it 43-38 at the interval.

Nunn hit a triple to pull Panathinaikos closer at the start of the third, but Musa netted 7 points in a hurry to protect the home team’s lead. Nunn struck another triple to make it 50-48, before the three-point party continued through Abalde. Walter Tavares added a dunk and Abalde scored again to complete a 9-0 run for a 59-48 lead. Musa stayed hot with a driving layup and Abalde did the same with a triple, and Deck scored in transition to make it 66-49. Tavares dunked an alley-oop, but Osman gave the Greens hope with a triple to finish the quarter, 70-58.

Deck and Llull struck from deep to protect the lead early in the fourth, and Hezonja added a thrilling alley-oop for a 78-62 advantage. But the tireless Nunn brought the Greens back with a three-point play and a jumper in a 0-9 run. Tavares dunked again to settle the host, and Campazzo’s free throws reestablished a double-digit lead, 82-71. Osman and Campazzo traded three-point blows, before Hernangomez and Lessort gave the Greens hope. Hezonja and Hernangomez both hit triples, and it was 88-81 with two minutes left. Llull’s layup gave Real breathing room, helping secure a big win.

A frenetic start to the game saw the two teams score 12 points each in the first four minutes, with Randolph nailing two triples for the hosts and Bonga taking his tally to 5 early points for Partizan. Two three-point plays from Rivero sandwiched a three-pointer from Blatt as Maccabi pulled away with a 21-12 lead. Bonga netted a corner triple to end Maccabi’s 9-0 run before a Tyrique Jones layup in transition cut the difference to 21-17. Then, Aleksej Pokusevski scored his first EuroLeague points with a jumper before Jones and Lundberg tied it at 23-23. The two teams exchanged blows from inside to start the second before triples from Bonga and Carlik Jones gave Partizan a 36-42 cushion. Yet, Maccabi responded with a 10-0 run inspired by an extraordinary Randolph, who ended the first half with 17 points and 5 rebounds for a PIR of 20, to take back the lead, 46-42, at the break.

Rivero opened the second half with a buzzer-beating bucket from inside, but Ntilikina drilled one from beyond the arc and two buckets from Vanja Marinkovic put Partizan back in front, 49-51. Sorkin ended Partizan’s 8-0 run with a triple before a Blatt three-pointer and a Hoard basket put Maccabi back ahead, 57-55. Yet, Brown responded with a triple of his own and Davies netted a bucket to restore a 57-60 lead for the guests. Maccabi replied with a 5-0 run of its own, but Bonga netted his fourth triple of the night for the 21st lead change of the game, 62-63. The third quarter ended with a three-point play from Davies, allowing Partizan to maintain a 64-66 lead after 30 minutes.

The Serbian side started off the closing quarter the way they ended the third, with Lundberg completing a three-point play, 64-69. Partizan dictated the tempo and pulled away 70-77 thanks to Brown, who took his tally to 11 points. Then, Ntilikina nailed an open triple from the corner and Brown completed a three-point play for a 75-83 cushion heading into crunch time. Maccabi tried to fight back in the remaining 2 minutes, but buckets from Brown and Carlik Jones extended Partizan’s lead to double digits, 77-87, and practically finished the game off.

“Everybody needs to feel part of the game. We’re still finding our way,” Baldwin told EuroLeague TV afterward. “We’re a relatively new team. I think we just need to play a little bit faster – find our rhythm, get guys going and have some fun.”

The 28-year-old added 1 steal as he played tough defense on ALBA’s perimeter players and helped Fenerbahce hold ALBA to just 23.1% on three-pointers.

“It was a bit of a slower game. You would expect teams like ALBA Berlin and us to play a little faster,” he added. “The pace was a little slower. But we really dug in on defense, controlled them and didn’t let them get up a lot of three-point attempts, which they like to do. We were grinding away and found a way to get to our spots and execute.”

Baldwin two nights earlier at home was limited to 3 points on 1-of-6 shots and committed 5 turnovers in Fenerbahce¡s loss to Zvezda. The American had tallied 3 points in Game 4 of last year’s playoffs against Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, but he played just 7:25 minutes. Fenerbahce Beko got back to winning ways in the EuroLeague by beating ALBA Berlin 71-78 in Round 4 on Thursday night.

Fenerbahce rebounds with 71-78 road win over ALBA

Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul bounced back from its disappointing Round 3 home loss to Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade by defeating ALBA Berlin 71-78 on the road on Thursday night. After scoring just 57 points against Crvena Zvezda, Fenerbahce drained 10-of-13 three-pointers in the first half and ended up improving to a 3-1 record.

Nigel Hayes-Davis scored a team-high 14 points, Wade Baldwin had 13, Tarik Biberovic hit 4 three-pointers for 12 points and Nicolo Melli also chipped in 12 points in the victory. ALBA missed a chance for a perfect double-round week which would have been the team’s first back-to-back wins since Rounds 33 and 34 of the 2022-23 season. Matteo Spagnolo and Martin Hermannsson both tallied 13 points to pace ALBA, which dropped to 1-2.

Despite playing in front of essentially a home crowd in Berlin’s Uber Arena, Fenerbahce needed nearly three minutes to score with a free throw and missed its first eight shots as it fell behind 8-1 before Devon Hall scored a layup at the 5:32-minute mark. After five straight Fenerbahce points cut the gap to two points, ALBA’s combo of Khalifa Koumadje and Trevion Williams helped push the lead to 16-9. The guests got two more triples from Arturs Zagars and Biberovic and the score was 16-15 after 10 minutes.

Fenerbahce remained ice-cold from inside the three-point stripe early on in the second quarter at 1 for 12 but was red-hot from long range, going 6 for 12 as Biberovic and Dyshawn Pierre added triples to help put Fenerbahce 20-21 ahead. Pierre and Biberovic each added another triple – the latter up to four three-pointers already – and Fenerbahce led 24-28. Melli joined the party with a triple and Fenerbahce was ahead 28-35. And Hayes-Davis made it a 10th triple in the first half right before the buzzer to lead 31-38 at the break.

Fenerbahce's impressive outside shooting continued at the start of the second, with Hayes-Davis hitting from downtown to start the third quarter and Baldwin making it 31-43 soon after. ALBA fought to stay close and triples from Williams and Louis Olinde had the hosts within 45-50. Baldwin had a strong third quarter with nine points and his production pushed Fenerbahce’s cushion out to 11 points, 45-56. The guests were leading 47-58 after 30 minutes.

Alba needed more than two minutes to score in the fourth quarter as it could not take advantage of Fenerbahce needing almost three minutes to add to the scoreboard with a Melli three-pointer for a 49-61 lead. A mini 6-0 surge had ALBA within 58-64 with four minutes left. Fenerbahce answered with a 2-7 spurt to reestablish an 11-point advantage with under three minutes to play. The home side trimmed the margin to six points, but Hayes-Davis iced the game with a three-point play with 16 seconds left for a 69-78 lead.

**ALBA Berlin**

Malte Delow, Matt Thomas, Ziga Samar and Elias Rapieque are all listed as unavailable for ALBA's Round 4 game vs. Fenerbahce on Thursday.

Matt Thomas underwent knee surgery ahead of Round 2, the club announced.

**Anadolu Efes Istanbul**

Efes listed Justus Hollatz as not available and Dan Oturu as questionable for its Round 4 game vs. Olympiacos on Friday.

Regular season Round 6 matchup between Fenerbahce BEKO Istanbul and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv has been relocated.

The Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Round 6 game between Fenerbahce BEKO Istanbul and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will be played at Zalgirio Arena in Kaunas, Lithuania. The game will be played on Tuesday, October 29 at 20:30 local time, 18:30 GMT.

This decision has been taken considering Turkish and Israel government recommendations.

On Thursday night, Real Madrid and Panathinaikos BC come head to head in a rematch of last season's EuroLeague Championship Game.

It is a game that was marked in red on both teams' calendar: the time Real Madrid and Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens would meet after their epic encounter in the 2024 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Championship Game. This Thursday night, they come head to head once again.

As we all know, the Greens beat *Los Blancos* 80-95 in Berlin last May to claim their seventh continental crown, the club's first since 2011, and deny Real the chance to win back-to-back EuroLeague titles for the first time since 1968.

The scenario is a little bit different this time around as both teams are coming off losses in Round 3. Paris Basketball beat Panathinaikos 84-80 in the French capital, which was the Greens’ first EuroLeague loss of the season, while Real registered a 76-72 road defeat at Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Chus Mateo is without two of his new signings, forward [Usman Garuba](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/usman-garuba/007630/) and playmaker [Andres Feliz](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/andres-feliz/011247/), for the visit of Panathinaikos, but star point guard [Facu Campazzo](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/facundo-campazzo/005928/) is back available after serving a one-game ban. This past summer also saw Real bring in center [Serge Ibaka](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/serge-ibaka/003583/) and combo guard [Xavier Rathan-Mayes](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/xavier-rathan-mayes/013378/). Ibaka, in particular, should be key in tonight’s battle against the reigning EuroLeague champion.

Up against [Mathias Lessort](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mathias-lessort/003842/), who had three very solid performances against Real last season, Ibaka will need to be wary of the Frenchman’s speed as he looks to erupt for dunks in transition. In his three games against Real last season, Lessort averaged 20.3 points on 23-of-37 two-pointers (62.2% 2FG), 5.7 rebounds and a PIR of 25.0. Fortunately for Coach Mateo, Ibaka and [Walter Tavares](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/walter-tavares/005791/) are two elite players on defense, which should make life tough for Lessort.

Panathinaikos also has some new faces in center [Omer Yurtseven](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/omer-yurtseven/005353/), forward [Cedi Osman](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/cedi-osman/004088/) and playmaker [Lorenzo Brown](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/en/euroleague/players/lorenzo-brown/009622/). It should be a special game for Brown and [Juancho Hernangomez](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/juancho-hernangomez/012712/), who are members of the Spanish national team and helped *La Roja* win a gold medal at EuroBasket 2022.

Real forward [Mario Hezonja](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/mario-hezonja/003108/), the only active EuroLeague player that has won both teams' jerseys, will also be looking forward to the occasion. Hezonja has always shown love and respect for the Greens throughout the years and even watched the second half of the 2011 EuroLeague Championship Game with Panathinaikos’ fans at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona. Hezonja had just won the ANGE title with Zagreb that morning and went to the stands after receiving the trophy at halftime. Only 12 players have worn both teams' jerseys in the current EuroLeague, and no one has ever won the EuroLeague title with both Real and Panathinaikos.

Looking back at last season, Panathinaikos' great campaign was reflected in its last two games against Real. Of course, Panathinaikos conquered its seventh star by downing Real in Berlin behind an outstanding [Kostas Sloukas](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kostas-sloukas/001926/), who earned 2024 Final Four MVP honors after an iconic performance in the championship game: 24 points on near-perfect shooting, missing just one free throw, 3 assists, 7 fouls drawn and a PIR of 31. He set a new record for most three-pointers made without missing in a Euroleague Final, going 4 of 4. Before that, Panathinaikos broke a 12-game road losing streak against Real which dated back to 2013. It downed Real 86-97 in Madrid behind 26 points from Lessort.

This game has all the ingredients to be the kind of showdown that you only see in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague at this time of the year: the last two EuroLeague champions coming face to face. Head coaches Ergin Ataman (Anadolu Efes Istanbul 2021, 2022; Panathinaikos 2024) and Chus Mateo (Real 2023) have combined for the last four EuroLeague trophies, while we will see almost 20 EuroLeague winners on the floor and as many as eight All-EuroLeague First Team selections: [Sergio Llull](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/sergio-llull/tgb/), Tavares, Campazzo, [Dzanan Musa](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/dzanan-musa/006540/), [Kendrick Nunn](https://www.euroleaguebasketball.net/euroleague/players/kendrick-nunn/012774/), Lessort, Brown and Sloukas.

An outstanding individual performance in a winning effort allowed Olympiacos Piraeus star Sasha Vezenkov to earn Round 3 MVP honors with a PIR of 31, his second consecutive award in just three rounds to open the new Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season.

Vezenkov led Olympiacos to an 89-68 home victory over EA7 Emporio Armani Milan with 22 points on 3-of-6 two-pointers, 3-of-5 three-pointers and 7-of-8 free throws. He added 7 rebounds, an assist, 2 steals and 6 fouls drawn for a PIR of 31. Vezenkov earned MVP of the Round honors for the 11th time in his career, tying Mike James and Mirsad Turkcan for third place. Only Shane Larkin (17 times) and Nando De Colo (16) are ahead of him on that list.

Walter Tavares of Real Madrid amassed a PIR of 29 in his team's 76-72 road loss against Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz. Tavares had 14 points on 7-of-9 two-pointers, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks. Mathias Lessort of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens had a PIR of 28 against Paris Basketball. He finished the game with 19 points on 6-of-9 two-pointers, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 5 fouls drawn in an 84-80 losing effort. Saben Lee of Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv had a PIR of 26 in his first-ever EuroLeague game, a 93-91 win over Anadolu Efes Istanbul, scoring 23 points on 6-of-8 two-point and 2-of-2 three-point shooting, along with 5 assists. Completing the list of top individual performances in Round 3 are Joel Bolomboy of Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade, Nigel Hayes-Davis of Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul and Shaquielle McKissic of Olympiacos, each with a PIR of 25.

Saben Lee of Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv led all scorers with 23 points in Round 3. Mathias Lessort of Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens is the competition's top scorer at 18.3 points per game.

Walter Tavares of Real Madrid led all players in this round by pulling down 15 rebounds. Crvena Zvezda's Joel Bolomboy is this season's best rebounder, grabbing 10.0 boards per night.

Four players – Codi Miller-McIntyre of Zvezda, Thomas Walkup of Olympiacos, Sylvain Francisco of Zalgiris Kaunas and Shane Larkin of Efes – each dished 8 assists in Round 3. Despite not playing this week, Facundo Campazzo of Real Madrid remains atop the overall standings with 10.0 assists per night.

Alessandro Pajola of Virtus Segafredo Bologna collected 4 steals, more than any other player in Round 3. Arnas Butkevicius of Zalgiris, Jerian Grant of Panathinaikos and Neal Sako of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne each average a league-best 2.0 steals.

Tavares had 3 blocks against Baskonia, the most in Round 3. He is also first overall at 2.0 blocks per night.
